Is it necessary to detune factory sharpened edges?

I have some brand new 179 domains and I'm just wondering if I need to detune the underfoot edge so that I won't catch on rails? or is the factory sharpen not sharp enough for me to catch and edge? thanks

Ive always detuned my edges with a file before taking them out, you dont have too though.

As a tuner I would say its a good idea. Dulling the underfoot edge and a couple cm's in front and behind your contact points will make buttering easier, and be less catchy on rails. Rounding your underfoot edge has the added benefit of warding of edge cracks for a bit. Not forever but for longer than a factory edge.

Totally recommended. Another alternative though is if you have a backyard/frontyard setup with pvc pipes, those do the same trick, they slowly round the edge. Unlike metal that damages the edge very easily.

I would if i were you. The reason for this is not because of catching and edge but instead your edge will probably crack if you dont de tune them.

I would definitely do it. One of my friend tried to hit one of the pvc rails in my yard with his brand new skis and it shaved off like a 6 inch long piece of pvc and he crashed really hard. After he detuned them he no longer had this problem
