Replying to Help me smoke in my dorm room!

So my roommate is into vaping. His professional vape pen hits like a mofo. And we both love vaping in our room, but it creates soooo much smoke that it set off the fire alarm. Cops and fire department came and everything. And we thought we got busted because theres no smoking in our dorm at all. But because vaping gives off a fruity aroma, we told the cop we burnt a poptart, flushed it down the toilet and sprayed febreeze. The cop was like, "Yep! febreeze will do it. Just try not to spray it near the alarm." So basically we got off scot free. So we wanna still smoke in here but if we set it off again the the cops have to do an investigation. Do you guys know if you can like cover up the alarm and not have it go off? Like tape a bowl of it? Or is this just a bad idea?
