Last night at the Inspired Movie...

I was really disappointed and a bit shocked after leaving the theatre that hosted the Inspired movies in Tahoe City. The actual movies were sick and really positive. After the real movies they played the GBP snowboard flick that showed a bunch of hippies smoking week and drinking beer. I may seem like i am acting like the lady that wrote a letter to vail about marijuana. T hall said it was a 'lifestyle video' what kind of lifestyle is driving around the country in an old school bus while rolling one up? This in the same premiere as the Road to Zion and Keynote Skier and T halls segment from PBP to keep in mind. I am a bit shocked that they even showed that video. I thinking that the inspired crew did not see this movie before and did not think it would be inappropriate. The movie had a lot of smoking drinking and violent music. The movie was longer probably than both ski movies together which just made it awkward watching parents watch their kids watching this To add on top there were a bunch of little kids maybe 6 or 7 of them that were the age between 5-9 years old.

thoughts on was this bad rep for inspired crew.

haters come and make me feel bad. I know people will think that i am a pussy who complains too much but this is just disappointing that they would show this.
now my friend's dad who took me to this hates Inspired.

No I'm not heard I just wanted to see if they showed this movie anywhere else and what people thought of playing a movie that promoted frequent drug use, drinking and bad language. Also I wish that they did a raffle like you said they did in seattle

You are missing the point of this thread. I actually liked the snowboarding it was offensive to other people and was a bit of a bad rep for inspired because it had so many shots of guys rolling a joint. I didn't leave just FYI

Inspired's logo is full on Rasta colours, they own a music studio in Jamaica, Tanner Hall is the self proclaimed dope king of skiing, for fucks sake he has a pot leaf tatooed on his body.

I'm pretty sure that they knew fully what they were getting into when they showed the fucking Gremlins getting down across the US.

Yea man I don't see how seeing people drinking is any different than smoking. Its 2014 cannabis is legal in 2 states and the only reason people even see it as "bad" is bullshit propaganda..Check out an episode of CSI that shit is on 24 fucking 7(violence everywhere) or the fact that beer/alcohol is glorified on tv to a god like status. I haven't seen the film yet so I'm not really sure what they did, but i would say If u have hardd drug use/profanity/nudity maybe should flash a little warning for the parents.( the rest of us pack up the bong when we see a warning) but thats how they live and thats what they're about. Doesn't sound like your friends pops is a fan…because he doesn't live that lifestyle... I on the other hand see cannabis as a much more harmless substance than alcohol and when u take into account the Inspired crew's style you should have known what u were getting into. They're partying to some gangster tunes not raping and pillaging ruining there "Rep" Did they keep it PG? no Do they give a fuck ? no

I get how it was awkward for you at the premiere, but yea your post makes u come off kinda like a square :/

Honestly, how old are you op?

I would have been laughing probably if I saw parents getting upset. The Inspired tour this year is anything but a normal ski premiere. Did THall not speak about that at all? Whatever, they do what they want.

OP Go tell your moms and dads that if they don't like the "lifestyle" they dont have to fucking live it, let alone watch it. They could have easily left and not watched Gratitude. GBP has been doing the same shit as Inspired for years and the two groups are on the SLAY. If you didn't notice during all of the movies most of the people there were 18+ and loved that shit. If you're taking your kids to an inspired/gbp premiere and you get butthurt about drugs and alcohol you probaby shouldnt be there. FUCK THE 1% of Tahoe.

Id like to point out that the soundtrack to Keynote Skier is not exactly clean. These events and movies are not made for kids, they are made for young adults who are into guess what? Rap, skiing, beer, weed and women. If parents have an issue with it then they can leave, or they could have done some research ahead of time on what content was going to be featured. These are probably the same parents who buy GTA V for their 7 year old then tries to return it when they realize its not for god damn kids.

Also, as previously stated in this thread, why is it totally fine to show disgusting and horrific violence in the US but god help you if you show some people having a good time (in basically any way).

Good thing Thall is having Inspired Media endorse them... such a bummer.
Specifically didn't go to the premiere when I heard "Gratitude" (gbp's new movie) would be playing.

No shots, just too much caffeine at work.

We have no relation to them and have had really mixed experiences with the crew, It was unfair to generalize. Gratitude isn't a movie I'd play for young kids at a ski premiere that's all. Big fan of Phil, Henrick & Tanners respective movies and phil will blow minds if you haven't seen it already.

I generally just question why there are so many young kids at most of these premieres in general. This is no Warren Miller flick. The soundtrack for Keynote Skier, while excellent made the entire event kid-inappropriate. Road to Zions music was mostly ok, mainly because its hard as hell to understand what is said in Reggae in general anyway. As said earlier, you are bringing your young child to an event put on by a company with Rasta colors in their logo, and a well known love of mary-jane. If you dont figure out whats up when you walk in the door thats on you.

there is something definitely noteworthy here, firstly there should be some kind of parental warning for the protection of real little kids... but it was an inspired premiere... so i would be guilty of firing one up right in the audience...(you know to set the vibe)
as far as SababaLand, these dudes are doing something totally next level, they live off the grid and make big things happen. its shocking to see this collaboration at all because they are mainly anti skier, but apparently its time to bridge the gap.

Yes, the movie that was shot the previous season, many months ago should be a little less vulgar if a kid wanders in. Thats the equivilent of saying they should make all movies kid friendly so your 10 year old can watch Hostel with you. Some movies are for adults, and some are all-ages friendly.

I hope you are joking here. The reason skiing does not receive the same kind of funding as most other sports is that it is a very niche sport. Skiing is restricted to areas that are A. Mountainous, B. Snowy and C. Have a population nearby that can afford to ski (and like skiing). In the US that limits you to basically the north east and the northwest/Rockies. If a company like say Nike is deciding on sponsoring a football team which will be seen by people everywhere in the country, or a pro skier whom will be seen by people who live in those areas I mentioned earlier AND who care about skiing, the choice from a business standpoint is easy.
Not to mention you seem to think that the first impression most people have of skiing is the stuff Inspired puts out and not say, what they actually experience at the mountain when they take a family trip. The film that everyone is bitching about here will be seen by a tiny fraction of the skiing population. Everyone needs to cool their shit and realize that the movie was an R rated ski film. You can watch Warren Miller films and the Olympics or you can watch Hoodcrew and the B&E invitational. Inspired don't change a god damn thing other than maybe putting a warning up about bad language and drug use.

So for the record, if any of you have seen "Bussit" the Gremlinz movie they played that night, you would know this is one of the worst movies of all time. Not even like on a ski/snowboard level, just any movie. Its basically 80 minutes of stoney mother fuckers putting rachet restaurant grease into there bus. All the urban is super b roll im pretty sure the 2 best riders put there footage towards other projects. I'm pretty surprised people could even sit through that movie. I love weed, boozing, drugs, sex, all that shit your mom doesnt approve of but that movie fucking blows lol. Shouts to t hall, sababland, and that swagged out bus tho.

people need to understand that not all ski movies will be straight ski porn. also production companies need to realize that their audience isnt just 16-25 year old kids anymore, people are bringing 6 year olds to premieres. Film making is an art and some will make stuff that offends some people such as little children and kids.
so i think a solution would be to imply an unofficial sort of rating system just like in Hollywood films. PG, R this way people will know what they are getting themselves into and there will be no awkward parents covering their kids eyes and stuff like that.

The ski movie industry is small enough that anyone going to a live showing absolutely knows the niche and schtick that the film company occupies. Companies dont really reinvent their image every year, it stays pretty consistent even when the theme of the movies change.

If someone brought their kid to an MSP or TGR premier and was bombarded with debauchery, then yeah, OP has a valid point. But homeboy went to an Inspired Media premiere...people need to use some common sense.

Seriously, it would have taken a total moron to not predict the Inspired media tour would not be kid friendly. Even if the movies themselves were totally clean the amount of dirtbags smoking weed, getting drunk, and mimicking thuggish music outside(and inside)the venue would be more than enough to put off any responsible parent of a preteen.

You sound pathetic for sounding like a fan boy with your "you are so lucky!!!!" shit. I would pay to NOT go to an Inspired premiere. I've seen the photos and recaps, it's usually about 25 kids that are around the age of 14 years old, getting autographs from the biggest idiots in the ski industry.
