How to get an edge on a dryslope

My friend and I just completed a dryslope. We started using astro turf but it wasn't that fast and you couldn't get an edge for spinning. We then ordered msnow which made it faster but even harder to get an edge. So what's a fast material that you can get at least somewhat of an edge on? Thanks

Did you use soap and water on the turf? If not, that should help tremendously.

Yeah we used water soap But we just slip out on spins. And plus we are going a good deal faster than the average dryslope because we made ours 12 ft tall and this makes it even harder to get an edge

You may have to just slow it down somehow, turf works fine for me.

You need something like Snowflex if you actually want to get an edge. Its way more expensive. All the ghetto solutions and meanies (which is what msnow is) don't allow you to edge. The old aerials water ramps that was the main disadvantage... no edge.

Its just kind of part of a summer setup unless you can afford to step up to snowflex.

Snowflex is very very very similar to astro turf. Differences include padding underneath, and a sprinkler system. Plus they don't sell it to individuals, so your gonna be out of luck.

Tighten your boots, have all pressure on your shins, cut out sections of turf and replace them with small PVC tubes.

I do agree that msnow is the best solution, and you're right in that video you can tell he can get a bit of an edge. However I've been on that exact type of plastic before (its the same as the old school aerials 'meanies') and the edge isn't solid. Not compared to Snowflex. Turf is different too because it isn't as grabby... so you can slightly get an edge but nothing concrete.

Good point that snowflex isn't available - as its commercial stuff. There's some discussion about how to buy it here - http://www.snowboardclub.co.uk/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t-9064.html - though it looks like its pretty randomly available. I'd imagine its damn expensive too.

I do very much agree with your conclusion that msnow is probably the best given a balance between price, availability and how much of an edge you can set.

Try using snow. It's not too hard to get a nice edge on that stuff.

use astro turf but create minimal friction by using planks spaced out maybe 8 inches apart and cover those in astro turf so it is like ladder going down this will be faster because there is less contact between the skis and the slope. hopefully that helps

Actually the best dryslope material for edge control is Dendex, it has much firmer bristles than snowflex that are set in a metalgrid. It's not a good material for landing on, but it's the best for edge control. It also requires a lot less moisture than Snowflex to run fast. The only problem is finding the stuff in the US. In the UK dryslopes can't get rid of the stuff fast enough and it's very easy to source. It's super heavy so forget shipping the stuff.

Snow has a major problem with durability in warm climates.
