Want to move to CO. Need help

So I've decided that next year I'd like to get out of the East and move to CO for a year. I've done some minimal research and found some decent housing at a decent price. So I have some questions for you Co locals.
What is a good town to live in that is at most 45 min from key or breck?
How much on average is your cost of living over the winter?
Where can I go to school near there? community college or something?
What should I expect moving from VT to CO?
Will my 98 Outback explode before I make it?
I know these are all questions I could search myself on google but I'd rather get real answers from real people

Summit county and frisco have access to copper, breck, keystone, and plenty others. Carbondale is cheaper access for aspen which is clearly expensive. Every resort has nearby towns with cheaper apartments. Most people seem to work at restaurants and bars and ski rental places, anywhere they can find work.

Come to Utah instead. Better terrain. More snow. Less gapers/tourists. Ski areas closer to the city (20 minute drive in Utah versus 90 minute drive in Colorado). Cheaper to live here.

frisco is more small town feeling with easy access to breck mainly, with copper to the south and keystone to the northeast. Silverthorne/dillon r right off 70 and provide easy access to keystone which many people say is the more locally mountain and where i will be at everyday skiing this winter.
If you are looking for something a little cheaper winter park is up 40 north west of boulder. there are a bunch of mountain ranges that make driving interesting. There is a town called fraser that is right up the street from winterpark where you can find a place for rent for 500-800 a month pretty easy. and winter park is sick, just the down is def a little beat compared to summit

I'm gonna take a year or so and live out West soon also.
Im kinda split between CO, UT, MT, or maybe like Mt.Baker area or something
Im considering CO just because financially it makes the most sense: I could get the Epic Pass and be able to move around and see a lot of places (including Tahoe) on just one pass.
I would rather ski in MT or UT, but I would hate to be locked into one ski resort the whole time on this year off.
Any suggestions?

What I just did for Utah(im sure you can do it in CO) is I applied to a hotel that provided room and board.(Gold Miners Daughter at Alta) and I got a job there so I dont have to worry about rent. They provide a place to live obviously, 3 meals a day, and a ski pass to Alta. This will be my first season doing it and my first time out west(from upstate NY). Its nice to already have a job and not have to worry bout rent so I can check out the area and make sure its a place id want to be for the future.
