If you had a choice between these 2 mountain bikes

I'm probably going to trade my Iron Horse 7point3 for less of a downhill bike. I've got a choice between 2 bikes and want to know which one has better components and will perform well for all mountain riding.

agreed. Specs are definitely better on the fuji plus newer components unless the cannondale has been revamped.

The Cannondale isn't a bad bike, but its lookin pretty freeride and not so all mountain. The Fuji is looking pretty cross country and shitty and not so all mountain. If you absolutely HAVE to choose between these two I'd get the Fuji and upgrade the drivetain and get a shorter stem down the road (I mean just look at that stem).

What's the component spec on your iron horse? And why are those two bikes your only choices?

id also choose neither. to be honest you would be down grading getting one of those bikes. those frame designs are super old. your better off just selling your iron horse and getting something a little newer.

You can sell your current bike and get an enduro bike that is significantly better than the Fuji or Cannondale. What type of riding are you looking to do specifically?

This is exactly what I would do in this situation. Sell it complete, or part it out, but sell instead of trade for sure.

In the meantime, go to local shops and ride some bikes. If your local shops or bike organizations sponsor demo days at trails nearby, that is the best way to get quality time on bikes. You're riding trails you are familiar with and can find a match to your riding style and requirements. Most demos are free, and just require a refundable credit card deposit.

Rentals are another way, but it costs money. Usually rental fees can be put towards the purchase of a bike if you end up liking it. Check with your local shops.

Both are single pivots, and single pivots are classic. The Cannondale has elevated chainstays, which are less common nowadays. OP's Iron horse has just as outdated suspension as both bikes. The right choice would be to sell the ironhorse by an enduro/all mountain bike and shred it. If you did have to choose, the Fuji would be the best choice, components and simplicity of the Fuji are far superior to the Cannondale

Nope actually quite the opposite these days, 1X is the cool thing nowadays for all mountain bikes(#enduro), especially with clutch derailleurs and narrow wide chain-rings. Smoother shifting, lighter wight, and less hassle. And If anything, a 2X is far superior to a 3X.

To be honest 3X are almost obsolete in the performance MTBing world.
