Mr.noodleKinda the fraction of.9 repeating is 9/9 and 9/9= 1

I'm pretty sure that it would be 9/10 not 9/9, also .9 repeating is always .9 repeating unless you round up... so no its not one.

This. My calc prof proved it when we were learning about geometric series.

0.999... means that this number gets infinitely close to 1 but never gets there.

Since that means that it basically is 1 you can probably use it as 1 in a calculation. Depends tho

No... if it gets infinitely close then that means there is no difference. If, on the other hand, it only gets finitely close then there is some small finite difference between the two values.

I think this misconception arises out of people trying to use infinity in every day speech when they really mean to say that something is really big or really small. The problem with this is that when it comes to infinity there is no point of reference to say whether or not something is big or small. In terms of infinity something as large as Grahm's number(a number so large you could spend the next billion years writing out it's digits and you still wouldn't have written out a fraction of a percent of it) and the magnitude of the force of gravity felt from a spec of dust in a distant galaxy(an extremely small number) are equally significant. So when you say that a number gets infinitely close to something but never gets there, you're wrong, it does get there, I just wouldn't hold my breath waiting on it to reach that point.

if X=.999...then 10(X)=9.9999... So
