I went to the Icelantic premiere of Going for Gold presented by La Familia last night, and here's what I personally thought about it. (not in any order in which they appeared)
Started off with Giray Dadali and the most original opening I've ever seen to an edit. His section was off the chain and had a gnarly crash that I shit myself on. Also, I've never been the biggest fan of Big Mountain skiing but I do give props to those fellas; and Tanner Hall hit the steepest, gnarliest mountain I've ever seen in my life. When the name "Mike King" came up on the screen I thought to myself, "I've never heard of this kid let's see if he has any bangers" sure enough: MIKE KING IS THE MAN. Mike had so many fucking hammers that blew my dick off, and the dude can definitely hold his own (especially switch) in the backcountry. Jaron Stadler had the most impressive presses I've ever seen in any movie I've ever seen ever. (granted I'm a huge fan of jaron because my FIRST lap back from an ACL reconstruction was with him and my buddy timmy) But other then the presses Jaron also threw some of the GNARLIEST urban grinds and gaps I've ever seen. Finally, Ahmet Dadali had the section you would absolutely expect him to have. Although he wasn't in Level 1's Less he absolutely made up for it in his section, his last hit also made me shit my girlfriends pants. I'm not the best at reviewing but if there's any short film I'd check out this year, it would 100% be going for gold
TL;DR GOING FOR GOLD WAS ILL!
