I've been working on my townie bike to get from my house to the gondola this winter. Ive seen a few good designs on how to carry the skis but would like to see more. I have a basket on the back for groceries is the stipulation. I would love to see picture on how you get it done. Thanks
If you have normal bindings you could make wooden plates in the size of your ski boot soles and attach them to that basket of yours and just click your skis in..?
i think the way hoji does it is the best, but I'm not sure if it would work with alpine bindings, i think you'd end up hitting your knee on them.
other wise put a milk crate on the back of your bike and cut out two slits on the bottom of it to put your skis in vertically, and then you can put your boots and whatever else between your skis too
ski bike! making something on the basket for the bindings to clip into sounds pretty legit. you are making me feel itchy just thinking about walking to the gondola from the couch...
Here is what I came up with at work yesterday. The brakes rest on the bar I welded above the basket. I bungee them in there and around the tails to the lower basket. The goal was to come up with a prototype that was simple and low profile. When I change it I will make the bar that the brakes rest on wider to accommodate my widest of pow skis.
