Finding a crew as a newb

Alright guys, I go to Stevens Pass and usually don't ski alone but I've been getting more into park since last year. The people I ski with don't usually go park skiing so I've pretty much just going by myself. I'm still learning obviously and find it seriously intimidating by myself. Are people welcoming of newbs lol? Should I just find a crew to ski with and learn from or drag my friends into the park?

just put some headphones in, turn up the music, don't worry about what people think of you, and in no time you'll meet a couple shreddas

TALK TO PEOPLE. This is the universal answer to almost all of these questions.

Seriously just talk to people in the park. Sesh a flat box with some kids. Cheer on other skiers when they're trying to learn tricks. Be friendly. Just hang out in the park you'll meet people.

It's really not hard, especially when talking about a home mountain. I can see going to a new mountain but if this is your home park just be mildly social and you should have plenty of friends to ski with a month into the season.

IF you can't do that make a sign that says "calling all awkward park shredders, meet me here tomorrow at noon if you want to be in my crew" or something. But really just talk to people, it's not that bad. People in the park are cool to people in the park most of the time unless you're a douche, or snaking their runs, side jumping takeoffs etc.

Talk as much shit as possible to kids and be an all around asshole, and throw hay-makers in the lift lines. let them know who runs shit

Yeah right! Everybody started as a newbie anyway. As long as you are enjoying, you will soon find fellas in the mountain. :) Goodluck!

Everyone is right - just talk to people. Jump on the chairlift with someone you see lapping the park and simply say whaddup. I met hundreds if not thousands of people just like this in my years as a skier.

One big thing I would say is make sure to get the unspoken rules of the park dialed. Nobody minds a new dude just trying to learn some shit in the park... unless he's jumping off the sides of takeoffs, snaking you in the middle of your drop or lying on the landing.

Of course it gets more subtle than that, but keeping an eye on flow, drops and staying out of people's way will do a lot to make sure you don't piss anyone off.

I mean that is probably fairly obvious, but its worth mentioning to someone who is starting to get into it.

From Washington to Utah for school. Stevens is my home base where i learned to ski park. Of all the other places i've been since then, i have yet to find a better park to learn in or a friendlier park environment. Just be friendly, at least for me its always a huge ego boost when i get to go back SP and kids just roll up saying "show me how to do that". #1 friendliest park i've been to and i love it!

Stratton VT park scene is one of the most unfriendly i haev seen..everyone stays to themselves. Also kind of the way the park is laid out also...not like the good old days back when you could hit 2 or 3 parks in one run

jk bro stevens generally has some great people who ski there, you'll have no problem finding friends to shred with, just ride the chair with some guys who hit the park and chat. Everyone starts somewhere, you'll be shreddin in no time

i ski stevens and i dont have a crew or anything ahha usually i ski with my stepdad, and hes a homie. also i'll go up with friends or alone, but once the season starts hit me up, ill ski wiith ya

just post up on the deck of the biggest jump in the park with some lawn chairs, a speaker, and a cooler full of beers and throw the brews at people as they come by. foolproof

Dood good tense some other shredders at Stevens! I usually rock with the SG crew at stevens and we are big into the backcountry but when we shred the park it gets rad. Get to know some people on the mountain, for example, I was up on a lot of the days this one guy was and I ended up shredding with him for a bit, never caught his name but he is notoriously known as mr. 900 in our crew. Just get some guys at your level to shred with and you'll have a good time!
