I'm really hoping that this isn't true, and that I get to delete this thread.... but Its not looking that way.

Mr. Auclair, you truly were the inspiration of a generation. You changed everything about my life that first time I saw a backflip Mute in an old poorboyz movie.

More than any other figure, you were someone that made me into the man I am today. You were a great person, a great friend and a great role model for skiers throughout the generations.

You will be dearly missed.

JP Auclair was one of the best skiers ever. No doubt. I'm not sure any one person did more to change the face of skiing for the better like he did. It was a pleasure knowing and working with him. An inspiration to many. I'm speechless.

I'm getting a warm feeling amongst the sadness and confusion that thoughts and emotions are pouring in around the world over social media. Just shows how great a community and way of life skiing is that these two legends loved so much.

I misread the post on the front page and thought that he was just retiring from the sport...Pretty damn devastated when I read the article itself. RIP to one of the founding fathers of free-skiing and to Andreas, another incredible skier. The only comforting thing I can take from this is that they died doing what they loved.

SIMPLE.an individual who gave his whole life to changing and shaping the sport that we all love and worship so much


This is extremely important. The best way to pay your respects to JP, Andreas, and all our other fallen heros is by gong out, and skiing. They would find solace in knowing that we're out enjoying that free feeling we get from skiing, one that they helped shape and form their own unique and respective parts of. So next time your out on the hill, just ski, enjoy yourself, and remember to give them a "Thanks".

still trying to process it all. cant believe hes actually gone, just goes to show even mother nature doesn't give a shit if you're a seasoned veteran or not. SIP to him, andreas, Liz, and anyone else involved in the tragedy. this really does fucking sucks. the wintersports world took a huge beating today.


stay safe out there, everyone. it doesnt take a backcountry expert to know that shit can go south very easily in the mtns.

You will always be remembered, those you have inspired will inspire others. Its hard to say anything that hasnt been said but the only certain part of life is death. We all die someday, it is not that we live a life of immortality that is important but rather we choose to inspire those around us, something both of you have done. My condolences to anyone you have inspired, let you live on throughout and manifest in our individual selves in perpetuating inspiration
