Ten and Two Reaction

I found that my order for Stept's new movie Ten and Two had arrived today when i was at school. I just finished watching it for the first time and im having some mixed thoughts/reactions. The entire movie is only 30 minutes long (most of their movies are 40-50 min)so that was surprising to me. I opened the package and there was no poster either. Not that i was expecting one, it just seemed weird that they didnt have the funds/ put in the time to produce them for their final movie ever. On the title menu, there was no bonus features either or no scene selection. All of their movies previous to this one had extra footage that i really enjoyed to watch because it was like an extra 20 minutes of skiing. Obviously it was an extremely hard year for stept considering that most of their crew was coming off horrible injuries from last year and not to mention that they lost their best friend, Tom Warnick. The movie is fully dedicated to Tammy and trust me i have no problem with that. I was also surprised to see that Clayton Vila wasnt featured in the movie. Yes, he was working on "five" but it was dissapointing to not see his face more then like 2 times for a second or more because i think he is what most stept fans look foward to when they see their new films. Im not shitting on stept or the new movie at all. Trust me i will enjoy owning their new film and i will definitley watch it more and more this season. All im saying is i expected stept to go out with a little more of a bang.

Huh, really no Clayton? That's disappointing. Love the film is dedicated to Tom though. I still can't wait to see it. I'm sure Stept put out the best of what they could considering who they are. They're one of my favorite production companies.

they definitely went out with a bang.

ten and two speaks to its viewers instead of just bombarding you with nonstop overedited ski porn. it gets a strong message across which is intended to evoke mixed reactions.

this movie has soul. it is one of the most personable ski films ever made. i'm sure that many people purchase this movie expecting to witness the best urban skiing they've ever seen, the truth is that Stept's last five movies are a series of the best urban ski films produced

ten and two goes a step beyond this classic heavy-hitting urban movie and details a story that allows you to reflect more on life as a whole than just our surreal ski world

I really enjoyed this movie, regardless of the length. Toms words really made the movie what it is.

Wait..really?!? Ten and Two was sick! Everything about it crushed it. ABM's jump segment is beautiful, Owens and Shea have sick comebacks, and Cam...well Cam went in and killed it. Obviously Clayton missing is a bummer, but FIVE is pretty sick too and that's going to come out soon.

I loved how the film was set to tom's essay, it added so much meaning and emotion to the entire film and really made me think about skiing as a whole and my involvement with it. I really couldn't ask for any other means for stept to conclude this era of film production. i can only hope for bigger and better things to come in the future!

Did Tom share his writing on the internet at all? I really liked what he wrote that Stept used and am assuming it was from a personal journal or something of that sorts so more of it probably isn't up.



Anyways...I think Stept did a great job blending the "small and the large", so to say in this film. Bringing these large ideas and personal feelings down to their trip, way of life, and "surreal ski world" as the hoodcrew articulated well. Some of the images they juxtaposed with Warnick's writing was really amazing. I know this is something that is done relatively frequently in art, but in ski films it is relatively novel and there is the sense that we "know" the Stept guys in a much different way than you would an author, filmer, etc.

this movie was soooo fucken good. Skiing was as ridiculous as ever. Everyones segment was banger.

Also just crazy how far Stept has come in terms of production. The editing, sound design, and over-all vibe of the movie was so on point. Even my GF, who doesn't really give 2 shits about skiing, was captivated the whole time.

I thought the length was perfect. A ski movie should leave you wanting more, not so bored you stop paying attention half-way through.

OP, Idk why you would even expect a poster. Mine showed up with the case in pieces (someone probably tried to jam it into the PO box), but I was just stoked the DVD was still intact.

Got mine today and I enjoyed it one of the best skimovies I have seen.

cinematography was amazing .Liked the storytelling got a "real" movie feel to it .Soundtrack fits the movie perfect .Skiing was brutal everything got destroyed.

I think committing a full season to one movie has just become way to mentally and physically taxing on them.
That's what I got from Shea's article in the new Freeskier, but there could be other reasons

I absolutely loved it and it was totally worth the money for the hard copy. The variety of skiing was awesome. All of the urban stuff was gritty as fuck and the soundtrack was so perfect. Everyone's segments were on point. I liked the way that there were only a few guys with full parts, but they threw a variety of guys in there. The jump segment was awesome, and the few shots of Seany J on the pow jump were awesome. They showcased how damn good Noah Albedejo's style is as well. Having Cam's seg be the ender was perfect. I think it was definitley some of his best stuff. This movie is shorter, and it does have less skiing in it than I had hoped for but the whole style of the movie is really unique. Its a lot different than their past movies, but with the unbelievable urban shots that you'd expect. It's a movie that you'd want to own for sure.

This is the only movie I will be buying a hard copy of. (Maybe thirsty, but w/e) Ten and two is the way all ski movies should be. It kept me hooked, there wasn't just a constant flow of intense skiing, but an intricate, well written story that it followed. The skiing was off the hook, and shot beautifully. The soundtrack? Point on as always. I think it was simple enough that it showcased everything we love about Stept. It didn't need to run long, or pack as many hard hits as they could because they're good at what they do. That's how you go out, leaving people wanting more, but also on top of the game. I think the story of the road trip really shows their evolution, and when they made it, it's the end of the journey.
I'd go as far to say it is the best film of the year, hands down, if not one of my all time favorites.
