Where to ski in Colorado?

Taking a ski trip out to CO this year! Pretty stoked already got the flights purchased, flying into Denver on the 26th of December and flying out the 30th. I've been thinking Winter Park and A-Basin. Where should I ski that would offer pow, cliffs, long groomed runs...for mom and pops who can no longer drop cliffs )': and an overall fun environment? LEAVE SUGGESTIONS TOO! +K for helping me out!

Vail has all that and more. Breck is awesome but the better stuff is a little harder to find. Creste Butte is fucking sick but pretty far from Denver and other areas. If you want to ride nice groomers, i would say Beaver Creek. A basin is fun but the runs are a lot shorter and the lifts are slow.

Winter Park it is. My parents have a long history there actually so they will know some of the terrain. Hoping since it is pretty early in the season Winter Park will have more runs open. I won't be skiing much groomers I will be skiing the upper portion of mountain. Hope to see some NSers out there!

Breck is awesome. Park is great and they get tons of snow.

Beaver creek is more of a family mountain and focuses more on groomers. Its pretty so-so

My favorite when I went to Colorado was Vail. Their back bowls were sooo much fun, and their park was awesome as well.

I only visited Beaver, Breck and Vail, but Vail was by far, my favorite.

Nope, I went to Colorado two years ago and the lines were nothing compared to back east. Although if i did sit in a long line i probably don't remember it.

Now we got the destination where would be a good place to rent some good pow stix? I have Line TC and I probably won't bring those would rather just get some fatties for the freshies! any nearby shops?

if you have the budget and are willing to go farther from denver then telluride is great.

As far as fun environments go, abasin will be unrivaled...basically a bunch of locals grilling and getting drunk at a fairly average mountain as far as colorado is concerned. A basin on a pow day if you're a decent skier is a ton of fun but without a lot of snow I would consider going somewhere else. Breck will have the most touristy vibe, long lift lines, lots of gaper gaps, fairly flat groomers, fucking top notch park but that doesn't seem to be what you want. Imperial is sick though and could definitely make a day their worth it if conditions are nice (breck is unnecessarily windy and usually on the colder side.) I've skied winter park/marry jane as a kid and only a handful of times as a sick skier /claim but I can tell you the tree skiing there is more fun than any other mountain, it has a pretty awesome vibe too, lots of family skiing and I'm sure you could find plenty of mom and pop groomers. Their park is pretty alright but unless you have the pass to dark territory you'll be stuck with smaller features. Honestly I would go ski marry jane, its a ton of fun. As a close second though, take a day at keystone. Im totally biased because i ski there 99% of the time and I love it but on a good snow day it has what you're looking for. The front side is super long groomers, tons of fun with some decent trees throughout. Their park rivals brecks every year and the vibe is super fun, anything from dug in butter boxes to 60+ booters, keystone has it. The back side is where you'll find your pow and cliffs if you know where to look. Everyone is real friendly and you'll have a great time. Colorado is sick and you'll have an awesome trip regardless. Ya WP is definitely the better choice. Me and spagett ski up there, but spagett is a puss and won't ski a whole bunch this year

no way, keystone is awful for groomer runs. Its actually just a sucky mountain in general, the park is the only cool part

You didn't know where to ski in beaver then, has some of the best terrain in the front range mountains.

Come to Telluride OP. Mostly advanced to intermediate terrain. Good park gets even better after New Years, and the Hike-to and BC is sick. Not to mention some really nasty couloirs if that's what you're into.

DO NOT go to Breck. Breck epitomizes everything you'll hate about skiing (excepting terrain): lift lines, tourists, commercialization, slow-patrollers, safety freaks, costs, wind, and cold. Keystone is not much better in that regard. Both Breck and Keystone have some nice terrain, but it's certainly not justified by the other costs and limitations of the resorts.

A-Basin is an awesome mountain. It's super local, has a great vibe, really fun terrain, it's cost efficient, and you'll for sure have a great time. Winter Park and Copper are in the same ballpark as A-Basin, albeit a dab less local, but way better than Breck. Winter Park and Copper also have a ton more terrain than A-Basin.

So really, you can't go wrong with any of those three.

I agree with everything except for the fact about the park during winter break, i went last year and the park only had like 10 rails and 3 small(10-20 ) foot jumps. The hike to is suppper fun man, so many sick jibs and cliffs

Steamboat will have shorter lines and terrain for anybody. Deep snow is not uncommon.

I hope that everyone of these statements was extremely sarcastic. They are all hgreat mountains but Breck pushes the family vibe extremely hard. Beaver Creek gives me a boner. And Vail is fun but the park isnt anything to rave about. Only real fun on deep days
