Did nike ever have a place in freeskiing?

I didn't think they had a very big presence, they didn't even have a ski specific line, Jossi was sponsored by Nike SB, so I would say no, but they had a large presence in snowboarding

I have always liked the nike stuff. Some may remember the 6.0 stuff they used to have. My mate in uni was sponsored by them and they had some really nice ski stuff back then. Personally I don't think this is the last you will see of nike in snow sports. They have come and gone a few times and if they ever want to in the future I'm sure they could return.

If you really think about it, did they really even make an impact on our sport? Not really. They didnt host any comps, have promo events or anthing like that. From the start there focus was skateboarding. Im sure if Nike wanted to they could have made the snowsports team go as big as the SB team but the revenue just isnt there

No I think that Nike is more of a snowboarding company if anything, They stick with what they feel is popular.

I mean... I really wanted them to stick around. They have arguably the best teams in skiing and snowboarding. Top tier athletes making that corporate money/exposure is important for the longevity of the industry imo.

My only problem with Nike is how they did their very best to put no effort into their product. You pretty much never saw any members of the team in actual outerwear, just an SB hoodie and some rebranded goggles. Nothing was even remotely marketed towards skiers.

Yeah that was like a collab thing. But in the new freeskier mag there's a page ad on Nike goggles. Full Nike I believe with transition lenses. Don't know if they still are making them tho because of the dropout.

They actually had a huge line. it was shared with the snowboarders, but they had so much product. The athletes chose to wear the hoodies because they liked them (outerwear was still worn) and the goggles are made by dragon yes, and in the past have been rebranded but this year they came out with their own goggle, that was designed by dragon but was completely their own goggle.

You'd be surprised how hard it is to get sponsored skiers and snowboarders to actually wear the stuff a company wants them to wear.

It's not the first time Nike has tried to enter the snowsports world and it wont be the last. They are keeping their team around for the next couple of years. My assumption is, they'll be back.

I agree with you. I'd wear anything if it's free. Also before you ask "you'd wear something really ugly for free?" I wouldn't ride for a company where I don't like the people and their outerwear.
