adam_r911sick, yeah I think Espace is one of the few ski areas I've never been too so excited for something new. Any info you think will help would be great! places to go, things to do, what are the parks like, good off-piste areas etc
JibbaTheHuttmy standard first run on a pow day would be the signal bowl, its pretty much a huge open bowl thats marked off piste. its at the top of drag lift that usually doesn't open until 10.30 or so after a good dump, if you can get there for around then you'll be guaranteed a couple of freshies on a route that must be at least 600m of mellow vert.
Fornet also has some pretty fun trees to play around in, lots of tight stuff but also some more open stuff with varying steepness, be careful because depending on where you are exactly there can be some pretty sizeable cliffs.
in regards to parks, the val park opened mid december the medium line of 3 jumps that were maybe 20-25ft with an ok selection of boxes, by maybe mid january they had their large line which was maybe a 30ft into a really nice 45ft into a 25ft true table/hip. they also improved their rail setup introducing some new rails/tubes/boxes. they had the xl built by end of februrary which was maybe 65ft or so, again a really nice floaty jump that wasn't particuarly intimidating to spin on. their end of season rail setup was pretty good swell.
The tinges park built some really big features this season, and i have to say that i didn't spend as much of my time there as a lot of them were too big for me. their jump line was pretty nice but definitely preferred the val park. the xl jump in tinges was about the same size as val but just not as nice.
In terms of nightlife, you'll figure out what you like. personally i quite liked morris bar, had live music pretty much every night and good general vibe. Dicks Tea bar did free hot wings with drinks on wednesdays for apres, which was sick swell as beer pong every day for apres.
