Censoring history

If so, good on you. Everyone needs to be taught the hard stuff of this countries history as well as the good. This whole common core thing is ruining our already terrible education system.

History shouldn't promote anything. History should be an ACCURATE representation of events, people, places in the past. That's all. No bullshit, no bias. Obviously it will never be 100% accurate. We don't have a time machine to go back and look at events from all angles. There's a lot we don't know but we use all we have to go on. Also it's exciting because their are new things to be discovered.

TEACH MOTHERFUCKING HISTORY PLEASE!!! It's ridiculously important. How can we learn from the past if we don't even learn about it properly?

Brule.Wow, now I just realized that my AP U.S. History teacher is the complete opposite of what's portrayed. Nothing is really sugar-coated in my class, and by that I consider myself lucky.

There's absolutely nothing that needs to be sugar-coated about history, then history is being turned into propaganda that portrays how the US is better than anybody else, instead of what actually happened.

Peace negotiations before dropping the bomb were never considered. But they probably would have agreed to somewhat of a truce.

Now Im not certain an Asia dominated by Japan would be a good thing since it would just be 1 big Japanese colony but I think that is more an Asian problem than a global one.


What you have to remember is that the United States was a highly civilized and highly educated and a highly neutral country in the 1930s. We were like a big Switzerland. The US population had zero stomach for wars until Pearl Harbor. We needed Japan to attack us for the war machine that currently exists to be mobilized. If there is no Pearl Harbor there is probably no right wing pro war meathead Fox News loving huge portion of the American public right now. So in effect we had to provoke Japan into war to create our current corporate war machine and the blind support for the military that currently exists.

Now a days there is no draft so its very easy to drive your pick up truck, hate Obama, and support our troops who keep us free from being invaded by Mexico or Canada at any moment.

Again the USA were a very neutral and very peaceful country prior to WW2.

They weren't committing genocides unless you view them dominating the Chinese and other Asians in their imperialistic quests in the same light as the holocaust.

The Japanese weren't attempting to conquer the United States. They'd have taken Hawaii but thats it they weren't going to invade and occupy California. They wanted the United States to merely leave them alone to pursue their imperialistic ambitions and acquire their desired raw materials in Asia.

Japan was the most powerful country in Asia at the time and could have colonized all of it relatively easily that is why the USA nuked the fuck out of them so that they were fully defeated and could not rise again.

Come on man we gave them the chance to surrender after dropping one bomb and they still said no we want to keep fighting. that in itself shows you that they wouldn't have been peaceful they had other plans, and it took the use of two nuclear weapons to realize they needed to stop. I don't regret anything in that situation on my country's behalf. you're throwing around a lot of hypotheticals.
