Staying warm

The issue with sweet shirts I try don't have any wind stopper propities so even when it's not cold when your moving fast you will b getting pretty cold. You will want some decent base layers. I like the icebreaker 260 crew but you may fin the 260 weight is a little thick. If that is te case there is the 200 weight or there is the everyday basic but I would spend a little more and get at least the 200 crew. From there I would look for a wind stopper mid layer. That I what will keep you warm when skiing. If it's a cold dry day look for a nice down mid layer. Down is awsome for cold dry days.

Def get a wind breaker to wear under your hoodie

Definitely wear a windbreaker underneath and put on lots of layers. But my best suggestion would be to just get a jacket. Doesn't have to be saga but just something that'll keep you warm since the east coast is super unpredictable as far as weather goes.

One under armour, a long sleeve shirt and a jacket

1 under armour, long johns, sweatshirt, and a jacket.

Snowmobile suite.

Now this can be changed on whether it is windy or not.

However I work in a freezer set to -15F all summer and winter so I'm rather use to the cold.

Look for a primaloft fill jacket. Downs great but looses alot of its warmth properties when wet whereas primaloft wicks moisture away and retains warmth!

Get a non-insulated jacket (will be marketed as rain jacket or storm jacket) and wear that over a sweatshirt. Shell jacket (not "ski shell", those have insulation) over a sweatshirt is what I do and it works great, then I can take off one of the layers if I get hot.

A ski shell will not have insulation that is the point of a shell it's an outer waterproof layer whic you later beneath to keep warm.

As for a windbreaker they are used as mid layers. A windbreaker often will have no waterproofing as it is designed to stop win not rain and other precipitation. So if you are wearing a sweat shirt adding a windbreaker under will keep you warmer when your moving as it will stop the cold air reaching you. However they won't often be thermal so it won't help on a generally cold day that is when down or synthetic down mid layers are excellent.

Really the bet all roun option is a good technical shell with good base layers and optional mid layers depending on the weather. That would be good for nearly all condition year round.
