So I went and bought an ENO Doublenest Hammock the other month and have been putting it to good use. I just recently hiked up to a rock lookout spot in my town that over looked the lake near me and set up shop.
Here's some pics i took of where i hung out for a few hours:
Is having a hammock some rare thing? Is it like finding another friend who's into unicycles or something?
I thought a lot of people had them. And if I go camping or hiking I don't really care if some people have tents, some people sleep on the ground and some people have hammocks. Honestly much more interested in the friends, the hike or whatever, than how people sleep.
I have one like the bottom green one with the netting. I did the whole Maine section of the AT in it and i've gone on a few other chiller hikes in it. I love it although it always takes a couple hours to get used to for me.
I do quite a bit of backpacking with mine. Don't really do the whole "check out my hammock setup" pic though. I can say it has been above 11k for a large portion of its life, mainly in the Uintas. My only problem with hammocks (assuming there are trees) is that they sketch me the fuck out when I'm solo packing. Something about not having a door makes me think I'm about to get stabbed from underneath 24/7, and I seem to be a lot more sensitive to the "little bumps in the night". With that said I still do it.
i used mine alot until it ripped in the middle of the night. Emailed the company and they said they couldnt do much to help me out. Really bummed. Then my roomy bought one and his ripped the first night he used it.
My hammock that I bought at the beginning of the summer was one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. I got a ton of use out of it this summer camping, and also was able to set it up on the top deck of the houseboat we rented for Lake Powell and slept up there the whole trip, it was awesome. Plus they're super comfortable, and easy to setup for the most part.

Maybe I'm weird though.
different strokes I guess. they're actually not bad for camping, ive only used mine for hikes. its great, you just choose a cool spot to hike up to and hang out there in the woods for a couple of hours with some good company. all my friends have one, and can't wait to test mine out skiing this year. they're great when you can't find a smoke shack.
I'm a pretty big fan of hammocks, the chillest seating zone.
Here is one that was in my friends backyard last year. I actually had a terrible accident one night when I was fucking wasted wearing a massive bumblebee costume when I was trying to get out of the tree. The hammock was suspended about 15 feet above a 40 foot almost straight vertical riverbank. I fell out of the tree and rolled down the bank backwards to the riverbed at the bottom. Thank god the river was really low or I wouldve gotten absolutely fucked.
Here is another picture for some context about the height. You can see the hammock in the top right corner.
This is also what my living room looks like, plus we have added another hammock that matches the walls better.

I like threads like these. They make me want to get out and do whatever the thread is about, like hammock camping. I've done all sorts of other ways of camping, but I haven't done it in a hammock yet. Plus I can get great information from the people who already do it.

well im sorry for assuming that you were like one of the trendy people on my facebook page. hammocking or "mocking" as some people like to call it has really gotten big around mi.

God forbid people share positive experiences on social media sites made for doing so

it should only be forbidden when people are using their posts to brag about the things they have and its very obvious to see which ones those are. im all for the relaxing with your book hammock posts, but the ones which i described in my last post are stupid and i dont care.
hammocks are nice and relaxing and great for camping. good bye.
Ugh. I had a free hammock that I was given to by the rep once out here in CA.. but I was wasted at that event and left it somewhere. Still kicking myself.
Got a grand trunk with a bug net for 40 bones shipped from theclymb. Best purchase I had off that site yet. Been loving that thing this summer.
Even got super drunk on my birthday at the beach(big surprise) and slept in there instead of in the tent with my GF ha. One, because she was lame and passed out at like 11pm, and Two......have you ever slept in a hammock drunk?? It's like being a big baby cradled in the loving arms of mother nature, I passed out it 2.5 seconds flat.

Chubbs. So you fell out of that one on the tree? holy shit
i was sketched out putting mine over a hole into the cave i was above in my picture.
Yah it was pretty fucked, I went down really hard. Honestly if you saw the costume that I was wearing its probably the only reason Im actually alive/didnt have to have an ambulance called for me that night.

yah i understand entirely.. damn i hope i never fall out ha
this. butterslut, you sound like a boring person with your "wahh, dont brag about having nice stuff cuz i dont have it" mentality. not giving a shit does wonders in situations like this.

Brand? I am looking into one meow for backpacking
