Not even relevant but would it really? A flow section where you put together a really flowy, stylish line, a control section for rail dancing or tech shit, and the impact section would be a big air jump. So I don't think street league skiing would be gay at all...it would be a badass contest format

The concept is intriguing and I've thought about doing this, especially now that the necessary gear has become relatively affordable.

The problem I can never solve is that urban shoots are inherently boring to observe. They make great content for edits only because all the boring stuff is left on the cutting room floor. For example, it takes forever to set up a feature. The riding isn't rapid fire. It can take hours before even one trick is landed. Not to mention, filming for an edit and filming for live require totally different approaches so it would be kind of challenging to get movie-quality shots.

There are ways to make it more "made-for-tv" such as turning it into a competition, having the features pre-built, having more than one crew at different features, giving more points for landing tricks in a certain time period, setting up a "timebomb" where the show threatens to call the cops if a certain number of tricks haven't been landed in a time period, etc. But does that get away from the point of the broadcast? Is it too contrived? Is it just a rail jam then?

If there is anyone that finds this appealing, I'd be curious to hear what people think could make it fun to watch. How do you envision a competition like this? The talent, resources and will to make something like this happen exists within the ski community.

What are peoples feelings about this?

maybe stept or someone could post a raw video of them hitting street but I feel like it would get boring if you sat there and spent a bunch of time watching the set up, and then quick bit of skiing, possibly a fail, and then followed by them climbing a ladder, walking up stairs, pulling back the bungee, just to try again. All in all it would not be enough skiing

To be honest that would be boring in many cases. Really depends on what people are hitting but a 4 hour stream of skiers trying to get one shot wouldn't be that exciting.

However doing a jam session or comp on a random urban rail would be cool to be part of. It would however need to be in a location that was a low or no bust, and maybe involve many features.

I feel like this would just have too small of a niche market to catch on. Like yeah I would be down to go watch a crew sesh a spot, but most profitable/popular ski event viewing comes from outside the small percentage of actual freeskiers

Isn't Redbull Forest Urbain an urban competition? I mean i know they build the jumps and features in a town but surely it half counts...

As for actually doing a comp.. you could either have a whole street setup park on a resort... or pick a city or town with a good downhill segment and pump some snow on it as well as add some features to the already existent ones.
