zzzskizzzUpbringing when you're a child, has nothing to do with mortgages because you're a child. when my parents were in highschool before they had mortgages, the country did not have the problems they have today. That's what upbringing means you eventually become an adult and you look back on your childhood as your upbringing.
Food_Stampsummm I know what upbringing means, you actually wrote up bring fyi haha...
but you're deflecting, I said you never placed blame on your parents in that sentence, I didn't say you used the term upbringing incorrectly.
can you show me where you placed blame on your parents in that sentence instead of trying to give me definitions of words you used?
zzzskizzzYou are a sad miserable lonely person if you've just been arguing semantics with me this entire time. Good bye food I have no idea how i allowed you to waste this much time.
joshuaPlease, someone tell me this is satire....
theabortionatorAlso on an unrelated note, 2008 wasn't even bad compared to what's lurking down the road for the US economy. And the author of that article and her friends aren't going to save the world.
Food_Stampswho at your age does not know the differences in there, their, they're???
RusticlesPlease elaborate.
Food_Stampsson, it's not semantics. you used such terribly poor English that even a new ESL student would be embarrassed for you.
"a good up bring compared of the problems"
what the fuck, man! please go back to grade school there's no reason your English should be so shit...you can't even use 'there' properly danggg!
EastShoreDrivepart of the problem.
bigbromskierReminds me of this article posted about the millennial generation of architects: http://architizer.com/blog/why-the-millennial-architect-wont-be-your-cad-monkey/ I immediately stopped following architizer.
it's awesome to be optimistic and challenge the status quo! however, being practical and idealistic and revolutionary doesn't mean trashing it. that's just ignorance, of which the author notes we have little.
there's always someone that has to do the dirty work that pays the bills and, unfortunately, the author doesn't realize that she is in such a position in her 'career' that she is able to claim her overall unrealistic status as the norm. Absolutely go out and make a dent in the world, but realize that corporate america probably isn't scared of you. rather, they're laughing at our unfortunate spectacle because I think as a whole, we are lazy and entitled and self-absorbed, just as all generations are, because people don't change. technology is always changing, but human character always remains the same, and because of our technology we are labeled as such, because we are. just like all the generations before.
Profahoben_212I am in no way saying Obama is a good president, but I hate when people blame everything on the president. Everybody thinks we need to change Presidents and magically the country will change. Nope. If we want change we need to change the House and Senate up. But nobody really seems to notice that.
theabortionatorNothing changed. All we did was bail ourselves out temporarily like we always do. Instead of going through the recession and making positive changes. Shit's just going to keep getting worse.
jensenDodd-Frank Act... have you heard of it?
Kajex"We’re willing to work for nothing if it means being happy… Despite being in debt."
Love how starving or being homeless isn't the shocker endgame here, its debt. This sounds like it was written by someone who blindly signed college loans, and then wasn't handed a job at graduation and now spends their time complaining about unfair college loan terms (which they agreed to) and "campaigning" for loan forgiveness.
theabortionatorA year ish ago somebody shared there friends kickstarter where he wanted everyone to pay for him to build a house. Also his design was unrealistic and seemed like it was drawn up by a 5th grader or somebody still a little burnt from smoking a spliff and jamming with bob marley. Then in a nice way I called him out and him and his friends got super butthurt.
Also another one somebody posted on here about the chick that though we should buy her a $50,000 cello because she wasn't going to get the parts she wanted playing the one she had. She went to some music store and tried everything and fell in love with an italian cello. That's great and all, and for most people that would be a goal for saving toward the future but for her it meant, she DESERVED it now and we should pay for it.
That's the kind of shit the article reminded me of. I'm not calling everyone in a generation lazy and entitled but I sure am seeing more of this now. Maybe as mentioned above to an extent it's more the changes in technology than the changes in people but who knows. There is definitely a push to make sure everyone knows they're special. Hell I watched some poetry contest and the lowest score you could get was an 8/10. Things like that. Everyone's afraid of hurt feelings. You can't fall off the monkey bars anymore, mom will be there till you're 16 just to make sure. Even better, maybe the monkey bars got removed because they're too dangerous.
To me this is what that article makes me think of. Are there a lot of people doing their own thing? sure. But a while back going to college actually meant something in terms of education. Look at some of the stuff people are going to school for these days, and then bitching that they didn't get a 6 figure job offer right out of school.
Idk. I do what I love and refuse to make money my ultimate goal. I've never done things because "that's what you're supposed to do". I could go on but won't. With that said it seems like I should be all about this article and stoked and all that. I still think this article is a steaming pile of shit though. You need some drive to make things happen in life, you can't just sit around waiting for everything to magically fall into place.
WattsProbably the same people who use "in" and "between" interchangeably and think it's correct. So, people like you.
Barefootin_Fiendjesus fucking christ. first, it's pretty fucking clear what he was referring to when he said "my grandparents didn't do this. my parents had a much better upbringing." it's so clear that i'm not even going to justify typing out the explanation, but if you can't comprehend it, please shut the fuck up about it. actually, just shut the fuck up about everything. you and your 10,000 replies have completely ruined this thread. you actually suck more than the bitch who wrote the article, which is pretty hard to do I might add.
zzzskizzzNo not every generation we had the longest running most expensive war because of a dumbass president voted into office twice.
cobra_commandercan some one ban this itchy twat for failing to use the multi-quote option, and being a general oxygen thief?
Thanks
Food_Stamps"my parents had a better upbringing" literally just tells the reader that his parents had a better upbringing...doesn't blame them for anything at all?
nowhere does it state, "from the time of them graduating college to 2008 they are responsible for the mortgage meltdown"...which he had to add later lol.
zzzskizzzAgain there was no need for me to explaine it, I had to add it in later because you didn't get it everyone else understood what I meant. You seem to be the only one who doesn't get it which is why you're the only one posting about it. Everyone else understood what I meant, because they have an IQ over five, and don't need every single detail explained to them. Just like how everyone else knew I was being sarcastic when I said my parents were born in the 1920.
Food_Stamps"everyone else understood what I meant"
well everyone else once understood the universe to revolve around the earth while few individuals like galileo understood the earth to revolve around our sun...ya, they were ridiculed and even sent to jail.
zzzskizzzHe mad
zzzskizzzHe mad
Food_Stampshere's a couple other examples:
"differences in time"
"differences in weight"
Food_Stamps"when my parents were kids and not in control of the country, they had a much better childhood and a much easier time finding jobs when they got out of college. however they're a bit older now and they have been running the country for a while. from the time of them graduating college to 2008 they are responsible for the mortgage meltdown"
honestly, if you were able to find the message from the previous quote anywhere in, "my parents had a better up bring compared of the problems we face".....well then all I can say is that I'm happy for you.
if you are seriously so upset or offended over a thread on a forum being "ruined" then it might be time you take a break from the internet...
Food_Stampshe thinks older generations are responsible for the problems the world faces today....but not the generation of his grandparents? wtf hahahahah
how could that generation be solely responsible for "fucking up the world"????? was the generation of his grandparents stripped of their voting and purchasing privileges so that the younger generation(his parents) could run the world???
Food_Stamps"my grandparents didn't do that"
oh ok, so not a single person from your grandparents generation was apart of those elections? nobody from your grandparents generation voted for that "dumbass president"?
I find that impossible to believe, you sound like you're certain though?
Food_Stampsyou mad? it would still be a giant wall of text...or are you upset that my post count is increasing(redundantly)?
Food_Stampsmaybe things are different where you live, but where I'm from you do not lose the right to vote due to old age. my 93 year old grandfather placed a vote in the last election.....
so how could the "world be so fucked up because of the older generations" but not include your grandparents generation??? they too participated in voting in that "dumbass president" but you said that "they didn't do it".......is your IQ too high to answer that? or you just deflecting like usual?
the only thing "I don't get" from your initial statements was how your grandparents could not be at equal fault to what you say your parents solely did WHEN THEY ARE ALL EQUAL CITIZENS WITH THE SAME INFLUENCE???
Food_Stampszzzzzski: dude, why did all those people from the older generation vote that terrible president into office....twice?!
guy: I know....all people from older generations are dumb and caused us to be in a really expensive war b/c of the government they voted for.
zzzzski: well, my grandparents generation didn't do it...they don't vote anymore.
Food_Stamps"everyone else understood what I meant"
well everyone else once understood the universe to revolve around the earth while few individuals like galileo understood the earth to revolve around our sun...ya, they were ridiculed and even sent to jail.
Food_Stampsbtw, the only point I was making with that comment was to point out another fallacy, as usual, that you used to justify your stupidity....again lol.
casualArticle was painful to read. However, fuck a suit and tie, and fuck the 17 year old square up top getting indignant that the author doesn't want to wear a suit.
I'm not wearing a suit, and I'm not playing golf or having dinner with some fat, disgusting, entitled 60 year old piece of shit whose entire life is built on other people's work and money. If you're doing those things and nodding and smiling at everything falling out of his mouth, you should hang it up.
If you are over 30, have a spouse and/or children, a mortgage, disregard the above. If you're 20, have an internship in "business" and are crossing your fingers that you get hired after graduation so you can join the next wave of Patrick Bateman's and have your overbearing mother finally be proud of you, you should hang it up. Today.
Barefootin_Fiendholy fuck. the degree to which you fucking suck is more than I have words for. i find it kind of funny that cobra referred to you as an itchy twat because twat was exactly what I was going to call you before he beat me to it.
do yourself, and everyone else else for the matter, and quit not just the internet, but life in general. unfortunately, you probably couldn't get that right either.
