Selling T3i to Upgrade to a 7D

Camera was Purchased on 12/26/13
I have all original paperwork and everything that came with it except for the box. This includes receipt, how to CDs, warranty paperwork, instruction manuals, strap, and all wires.

The camera has always been kept in a case and extremely well maintained.

The camera comes with 2 lenses

1. Canon EFS 18-55mm (kit lens) w/ Hood
2. Tamron Aspherical XR Di2 sp 17-50mm w/ Hood

PLEASE NOTE : THE TAMRON DOES NOT ZOOM PROPERLY. STILL WORKS AND FOCUSES PERFECTLY, YOU JUST CANNOT ZOOM IN. I haven't taken it to get checked but I'm thinking that the plastic grip has simply slipped off of the threads. still my go-to lens with the issue.

Extras and Accessories:

1. Promaster 67mm Polarizer for the Tamron
2. Rocketfish 58mm UV Filter for the Canon
3. X-Grip Stabilizer (Perfect for Skiing / Skateboarding / Filming anything with motion.
4. Mini Stabilizer (similar to a Glidecam) - Comes with 3 weights. If you're gonna use it for skiing i would recommend buying another weight
5. 16gb SanDisk Ultra Memory Card
6. All lens caps and body caps

Not trying to be that guy, but why a 7D? You seem to shoot video, so I'm pretty curious.


Or did you mean the 7d mk2?

I hardly ever film anymore (or take a camera skiing in general) and find myself shooting things that would just come out a little better if it wasn't on a t3i. I also want to start learning a little more than the t3i can teach

Plus I have a friend who's selling his 7d for a steal, so there's the reasoning

Word, I was just wondering, I always am curious about people upgrading from t3i etc to 7d.

they have the same sensor, but okay...

The only things you're gaining, IMO, are:
Better build quality/feel
Faster (more fps)
Better AF

To me it was not worth upgrading my body (I had a t2i before) until I could afford a 5d2. Saving money and buying nice glass that can be used on a full frame body was a way better choice for me.

Does anybody have any other ideas for a good body choice once you've outgrown the t3i?
I'm only really looking at the 7d because ill be able to buy it with a solid lens with the money I'm getting from this and seems like a nice option

imo, it's worth the wait to go to a 5d2 or 3, or 6d. Depends on what glass you have and how much you want to spend

You shouldn't necessarily be driven to upgrade just based on the specs. I've filmed with a T3i for nearly 3 years now, and I take pride in the videos I make and the pictures that I take, and I think that I can often still put out better content with that little camera than gear-heads who have FS700s or GH4s. You might feel limited by the T3i, but you have to ask yourself if you'll REALLY make better content if you upgrade. Often times, you will be taking multiple steps backward as far as technique and skill go if you upgrade and rely too heavily on the fancy features of nice cameras.

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I'm still ready to upgrade, but maybe not to something as hefty as a 7d.

I mean, the 7D is a fantastic upgrade in this regard if we're strictly speaking from a photographic standpoint. It has a great continuous burst rate, and it's great for getting the shot you want, but other than that it's really not that much better. Same sensor, marginally better AF and Viewfinder. Video quality is exactly the same.

I mean, if you're really doing more filming, and the photography upgrades you get from the 7D won't be things you really use, you might want to go for a 6D (which I'd go for over the 5D2 if I were you) or one of the other aforementioned options.

As said above, the T3i and 7D are basically the same from a video perspective. Sure, the 7D is better for photo, has a nicer feel and other small features such as the duel processor. But worth upgrading to from another APC-C sensor camera? I'd say not, as said by some other purple names, the T3i is great for video. Sure it may not be part of the mirrorless 4K trend, but there is a reason why Canons kept it around. Go for full frame (6D, 5d MII or III) or get some nice glass to use on it

And really, i can't afford any of your other options which are all great camera options. Im trading in on a deal i can't pass up because I'm getting a 7D for the price of a T3i

This. It may not be the most ideal upgrade in a some folks opinions, however at the end of the day it's your choice entirely. You got some good info about what your getting, and everybody is chyll by getting their 2 cents on the subject

I agree with this and dont at the same time. Yes a new camera will not make your stuff any better... but i do feel like a new camera drives you (well at least me). Every time i have taken the step and upgrade i feel a very strong pressure to create 3 or 4 levels above what i was at. And as much as it should not to a client your gear is what matters. I see no issue with being on the cutting edge of technology. Every time you upgrade cameras you move up to a new client base. You cant get the same jobs if you have a t3i as if you have an fs700 or epic.

But all in all camera does not matter and your work sir is a perfect example of that
