My ski edges have been getting a little chopped up and need to be tuned/detuned again and recommendations on how you guys tune park skis that also allow versatility outside park? and how do you guys tune your skis? i last tuned them with a 3 degree edge on the tip and tail and let the edge underfoot roll over.
For park if your doing quite a lot of rail stuff going for a larger angle on the base edge can work well. It can prevent edge catches but still allow for a sharp edge for jumps. So instea of using a 1degree angle maybe try a 1.5 or even 2. You can offset the edge angle to maintain 90 so use 88.5 or 88 or try a 89 and see how you like it. From there I would use a file to detuning the contact point and underfoot. You can use a gummy but it take longer and your going to clean the edge after anyways. After filing use a gummy to clean any excess metal and then a polish with wet dry paper can really finish the edges nicely.
