With the topsheet and base hype on newschoolers, I thought we needed one more, In your opinion whats the dopest sidewall? I think this one is hella fresh, I dig its simplicity.
Backin' the pic. Basic, proven, trusted, and no monkey dust. I actually love the no-graphic tops like this too. Wish more companies would just run the clear so you can see the guts.

careful.. as the public is leaning towards "lighter is better" these days, you will begin to see more foam core skis and cap construction. history repeats itself, skis today are just like the 90s (if you were around then)
Just look at what freeskier ranked for the top skis in park, the Nordica Badmind is a cap ski...

The tech has come a long way from the 90's. In my opinion a combo of sidewall underfoot and capped tip and tail make te most sense. String underfoot and good edge control yet light and more durable in the tips. Also look at high end race skis now, many are using cap rather then a full sidewall. Full sidewall skis are always going to be around and be fun but I think you will see Less full sidewall skis in the futer.
Dopest sidewall imo would be a combo of icelantic ptex sidewalls with the incredibly mild top cap that 4frnt has. It helps chipping and really bad gouges from happening but still has bomb proof replaceable sidewalls.
Has the be Praxis. They're the only company I've seen use rounded sidewalls, so when your edges hit the other ski, they slide off and don't dig in. It keeps your top sheets nice a lot longer and they're extremely durable to boot.

Lets be honest though on the FIS stock its more of a branding cap, the Atomics I have where we cut the tails off still have a full sidewall under the branding on them its really so they can run the micro laminate of the core as wide as they can while having a small sidewall in there to keep it water tight. Of all the race stock I have seen only the Amer group stuff is capped.

yes i love the look of the 4frnts, but they compress and get dings super easy
cant stand how cap skis feel underfoot, theres a reason we got away from that. J skis look primo, quality wood is a must if you want lightweight along with durability

oh totally. cap construction has definitely came a long way. the adhesives used are much better and the quality control on skis is better. i love step down sidewalls and hybrid sidewalls that utilize sandwich underfoot and tip and tail being cap. decreases swing weight and increases the tip and tail flex. we see less and less delaminations each year
