Big White Conditions

Hey all,

I know this thread is coming in a little early, but I'm wondering what kind of snow Big White/Silver Star usually has in mid January (eg. Mashed potatoes, dry and soft, dry and icy, etc) after being groomed.

I'm also looking at weather reports and stuff but anyone from that region will know it best. This is to help me design a ski shape for the great northern concrete toboggan race.

I live in Kelowna, half an hour from both hills. January can be somewhat variable with the amount of snow, but after living here for 15 years, I've never skied on anything but cold, dry powder. It only ever gets icy if we don't get snow for a couple weeks, which is really rare in January. The groomers are also top notch, very soft corduroy.

spent a season a big white and i need to agree with the post above. Never have "bad" conditions and had pretty consistent refreshes. It is as fucking foggy as they say though but who cares, you'll be skiing trees, bitchin trees!

I went to Silver Star in January this year. When I got there it hadn't snowed for a week or two but even so the snow was still really good no ice in sight and all the groomed runs were nice and soft. A few days later it absolutely puked and it was so sick, my first time skiing true powder. One of the days was pretty foggy but it was fine because rail set up they had in the park was real fun.

Pretty much we got more snow in the span of 3 - 4 days then what you get in a whole season in New Zealand.
