Vail Buys PCMR for $182M

Vail Resorts has purchased Park City Mountain Resort for $182.5 million in cash, creating the country’s largest ski resort covering more than 7,000 acres.

The Colorado resort announced the acquisition Thursday morning, adding that the sale resolves all litigation with Powdr Corp., Park City Mountain Resort’s parent company.

Vail said PCMR and Canyons Resort, which it operates for Talisker Land Holdings, would be combined for the 2015-16 season. But PCMR will be added immediately to the resort’s popular Epic Pass, which offers passholders skiing opportunities at all of Vail’s resorts in the United States — plus a few ski areas overseas.

The purchase involves about 687,000 square feet of residentially and commercially owned property owned by Powdr Corp. at the resort base. It does not include Gorgoza, a tubing hill just below Parleys Summit.

goonsquadidk why you guys think all mexicans are poor but if you go to certain cities in mexico there's billboards for Vail and mexico gets two weeks off in the spring and some like to spend it on snow, on America's largest ski resort which used to be vail

i worked there for a few years and this week was always a huge deal it was like batten down the hatches all hands on deck type of deal, even more so then Christmas

Is it me or is $183mil, even in 2014 dollars not seem like that much for a place like Park City?

That was the price for the roughly 200 lower acres that was in limbo and infrastructure and naming. Rest of land was already figured out.

But yeah, I was surprised by that number.

And wow. 5 years ago. Kinda seems like yesterday.
