JenniferGarnerHahaha, you went to ski patrol then the ER to get your shoulder put back in? Good, I hope you did get charged out the ass for being such a pussy.
Yea, give me a call next time you've already had shoulder surgery to fix a labrum tear and you have a divot in your shoulder joint that catches on your socket when it dislocates. We'll see how tough you are then when you've been trying to relocate it yourself for 15 minutes. This isn't Lethal Weapon where you throw your arm into a locker you fucktard, this is real life with real nerve and ligament damage that will last you the rest of your life.
I said it in my post before and I'll say it again because some people must be fucking illiterate. I don't give a fuck about PC, never skied there and will probably only ski there a handful of times. I don't think Vail is going to corporify PC or that PC is a small ski town, I just hate Vail and I hate that they're one resort closer to owning skiing in the US.
The lift tickets and burger prices on the mountain are moot points, every ski area has expensive food. The problem is that Vail basically owns Summit County; it's a real estate business. They found a huge attraction (skiing) and then made their money not through burgers and lift tickets, but through real estate. Besides being a horrible company to work for, since Vail caters to the rich, "gaper" demographic they target park kids who bring in relatively little money. However, they are ones who work in the restaurants and as lifties, who work in the ski shops and as instructors. The ones without whom Summit is just a town with some houses and mountains. I've been threatened to have my pass pulled on numerous occasions for going "too fast" which means faster than the general speed of traffic often regardless of how many people are on the run. Mind you, some of these times were on "black diamond" runs. I put black diamond in quotes because that's just what Vail says they are.
I've had friends have their passes get pulled for coming in too fast to the base, no warning, just pass gone. They have boards at the bottom of the lifts at Breck telling you how many passes they've pulled "to keep you safer." Fuck that shit, I like skiing park and I'd like to ski a good park without feeling under constant watch and attack by the mountain I pay to ski at. And I'm sick of feeling cast to the side to make way for people who put up with some skiing to enjoy the après-ski life.
And shit, I know that's "just the way business is" and that they are good at what they do: making money. That doesn't mean I should like them and in fact that is the reason I hate them so much.
Read "Downhill Slide" by Hal Clifford for more information on the economic and environmental ramifications of corporate ski towns. It has a strong bias but there is a lot good information in there.
