pat_in_the_hatbut I really dont want to upset my bosses as I have only been working here a year and a half and they have put alot of time into training me.
yelselOut at 18. Went to college for a semester, came home for a month or two and then I was out again. Moved in to an amazing apartment with a friend of mine who turned out to be fucking psycho. I've been living on my own ever since.
pat_in_the_hathaha ironic timing for this thread.
im 25, single, have a stable engineering job and I live with a roommate to develop a decent financial savings and just so I dont have to live alone (it would get lonely and I would become a hermit).
My roomy told me last night that his mom is breaking up with her boyfriend and will be moving in with us. Because of that, he "highly suggests" that I move out.
I have no where to move to since I dont want to live alone in a shitty studio apartment where my neighbors would be cracked out indians. And all of my friends are either living with their significant other or dont want a roommate (understandable).
I dont think I want to buy a house yet as I would be 100% tied down to this town that im not exactly happy to be living in.
Sooooo my parents offered me to move back with them until I get things sorted out. And its looking like my only option if I dont want to be homeless.
and ive been considering applying for new jobs in Montana so that I can spread my wings and get out of this town, but I really dont want to upset my bosses as I have only been working here a year and a half and they have put alot of time into training me.
/endrant. its been a stressful week so far
ZachAndCheeseIt all started when my roomate and I got kicked out of our freshman year college. There was this deuce bag swimmer guy that we became friends with and eventually threw a huge on campus party with. Campus security shut it down and kicked us out for it. We all found telemarketing jobs and split rent for a baller party house with a pool. We just constantly get drunk and high and go on crazy misadventures. Solid life.
Dolan.EscobarNothing against people who have moved out, but i do have a problem with people who look down on people for not moving out.
First of all, its cheap. in this day and age the smart thing to do is save your money in every way you see possible. People who enjoy saving money also tend to be good at making money. untill you get a job than can easily pay for a kick ass place or buy a home, living at home will save you a fuckton of money.
secondly, there is a tendency among people who age horribly and look like dirty old men to assume that everybody thats their age has become bald and fat like them. yes there is something weird about the image of john c reilly (who isnt funny at all) living with his parents but not everybody becomes as fat, bald, unfunny, untalented and astoundingly ugly as him as they age.
in europe living at home is a very normal thing, and nobody bats an eye because most people their age well and stay in shape.
Its those in america who are angry about how horribly they have aged who sneer at the idea of people living at home. It really boils down to people being jealous of those who are much better at dominating everything in life than they are.
Dolan.EscobarHugo i was just expressing my thoughts over the culture in the us that seems to denounce living at home.
Its a culture of a previous generation, when there were new homes being built all the time, everywhere.
I dont really appreciate movies like stepbrothers and failure to launch which seem to poke fun at people living at home when there is nothing wrong with it.
Go ahead and laugh at ppl living at home. I assure you, theyre laughing too... All the way to the bank
but yeah im not reacting to anything ne1 posted. Just responding to the uniquely american culture that makes fun of it.

KravtZLived at home for a while after college...do it man its awesome. Saved an insane amount of money and also was able to go crazy on weekends since I had no real financial obligations besides car insurance ($55/ month) and my commuter pass ($200 month). Had a blast and balled out so hard.
