went to 4 different spots last year, didn't get anything that good out of it.
I hope to spend as much if not more time doing urban than on a hill this year just because I like that feeling of solitude. you're just out there with your crew, nobody else. there is the occasional civilian but most of the time they don't mind.
I'm from Minneapolis MN so there's plenty of rails, no shortage of nice people that are stoked on what you do, and also there are rumors that northern mn will be getting snow next weekend... no lies.
I also thought it was a lot more common. I'm not good at all and I've done urban, it doesn't need to be stept or anything just go out and fool around it's always a good experience
I only hit urban a couple of days during the season. Like people have already said, you have to invest a lot of time if you want good shots for edits. You also have to be really creative to find interesting features
Urban can be super fun, and you feel like a thug. But jesus, falling on concrete hurts. After a handful of times, the risk of doing it was too high, unless there was a decent camera.
I tried once but the snow wasn't packing and I was A first timer so I didn't bring water then we got kicked out. So my friend and I skied some pow down a hill
it's a lot of hard work, don't guess you'll arrive at the spot prepare a jump during 20 minutes and start hitting it. Most of it is the preparation, you really have to be motivated.

Last year my area got a lot of snow so i was able to hit a decent amount of urban rails for my first year. I have a decent amount but not in years. I think I'm too old for that shit.
Also not having enough snow isn't a valid excuse imo. I've hit rails in the summertime with rink snow. Throw it in the back of a truck, salt it and bring it to the spot. Can also rock out crushed bags of ice. IF you're really low throw down some carpet or something. When you get enough on jump, inrun salt that shit and hit it. Doesn't take much snow to hit a rail honestly.

Work? is that what skiing is? If moving a little snow is too much work then you don't really want to do it. That's like saying you want to try a backflip but don't want to build a little mini booter. Sure there is some work involved but it's not THAT much and it's worth it in the end.
Idk how some people would have survived when a lot of mountains didn't even have parks. Building our own jumps? OH GOD NO! PLEASE ITS TOO MUCH WORK.

Some of my friends used to do some urbans including dfds in the summer standing on trash cans or whatever and stepping on. Not the most legit but little effort and something to keep the stoke up.
BASEDJAH...=/= hitting urban in the summer. Down for the stoke but living somewhere where it doesn't snow seems like a legitimate excuse to me
I mean summer is a legitimate time not to ski but people build setups. Just saying if you want to hit a rail it's not THAT ridiculous. WAs going to post a snerrberd edit of people getting down on urban in the summer but can't find it.
Also he says "not enough snow" which means theres some snow. If it snows even a little bit you can farm snowbanks throw it in a truck, bring it to a rail boom setup. Bring a drop in or make something. IF it's a double stairset or wheelchair ramp roll in on the first set for speed.
You don't need any snow around 99% of the rail just enough to get you on and enough to be slippery for the run out. Obviously some spots require some serious snow but if you're just trying to hit a rail any rail just do it because yolo and stuff.
