Tell me about your university!

esotericjiveI know there's dozens of threads titled "college for skiing," but I'm not trying to go to college specifically to ski, though its definitely a factor.

So tell me about your school.

At my universities they taught me the difference between "there's" and "there are," as well as when to use an apostrophe in "its." Actually, I learned those things well before I went to a university, which is why I went to better schools than you will get into.

I lived in the woods in oregon, skied and went to college. Its called Oregon State Cascades Campus in Bend

i go to plymouth state university in nh, its a big party school. its the first week and we've already sent two kids to the hospital and had a police helicopter spot lighting around campus. I'm an environmental science major and some of the classes are a joke and u could pass with out even attending but others are very rigorous. as of now i like that its close to waterville, loon, and canon mtns and that the campus has a lot of handrails for possible jibbing. what kind of sucks about it is that some of the dorms are nice and some are so shitty they should almost be condemned. but besides that and a few other minor shit its a decent school. i picked it because my parents wouldn't let me go out west, but if u have that freedom defiantly take it.

It was right on a lake and in the middle if the woods. I could drive 10 minutes and hunt or fish in numerous locations. It was a damn paradise

I go to the University at Buffalo in New York. The skiing around here is definitely not bad at all. It's not the Rockies but it's still pretty awesome. At UB we have a ski club, Schussmeisters, and its about 150- 200 dollars for a season pass to 5 local hills(Kissing Bridge, Holiday Valley, Buffalo Ski Club, Peak n Peek, Swain). You can ski pretty much everyday and it's really awesome. In between classes we all usually hang out and fuck around in the office and everyone is really cool. Also, the club hosts a bunch of events. This year we're hosting the Inspired Media Tour and a Capita movie premiere as well. We have rail jams on campus and we go on trips every year and overall it's a really awesome time. 10/10 would recommend.

As for the academics of UB. Buffalo is ranked really high for Public Universities and I would highly recommend it if you're going for a science related major. My major is Biomedical Sciences/ Pre Health. I'm a Freshmen this year and I really have no complaints yet. The classes are big but it doesn't bother me. You have lecture with 300 students and then lab/recitation with 20ish students so I wouldn't listen to people who say theres not a good student to teacher ratio at large schools. It's really not true. The school is big but the campus is set up in a pretty easy way to find your away around. There's 30,000 students I believe(under grad and graduate students). I was hesitant to come here because of the size but really, when you're here it doesn't feel that big at all. I commute to school and parking is really good. A lot of people complain about parking in college but it really is nice here. Also, I've seen the dorms and they're above average in my opinion.

Bozeman is a much cooler town and has better skiing. But the University of Montana is so much more fun.

I go to U of Ottawa. I basically just got involved with my faculty and enjoy that. There's also a ski club that goes to Tremblant every week but I'm not motivated enough to get all my work done in one less day a week.

Ayy UB here too! UB has bang for your buck, theres so much to do. I see alot of people hang out in their dorm all day but if you wanna get the most out of it you have to get involved, we have clubs for the most random shit. Theres also a super diverse crowd of students. Like much of NS I came from a white suburbia background so when around 40% of the kids were minorities it was different. Partys arent bad, open frat houses are always a shit show but the concert/bar/club scene is awesome. I wish I could get more involved with Schuss but I was a pussy last year and this year I gotta get good grades. Seems like a real cool group of kids though, I'll try to hang this year

I go to McGill. I love it here although the students tend to hate on the school a lot (corruption, bad politics, shitty controversies and stuff). The student body is super diverse and there are a ton of Americans who come for a good education at a fraction of the price of a school in the states.

We're 40 minutes from a bunch of awesome ski resorts within a few hours (Bromont and Saint-Sauveur close by, Jay Peak and Tremblant accessibly close). Huge ski/board culture for people who can afford the trip out - money wise and time wise.

Classes are big, but they get really small in upper years when you start to specialize in a certain area, but that's what you're going to get with any big school. It's known to be pretty rigorous but you intend to get a degree, so suck it up and work hard because everyone else here does.

The campus is beautiful and right downtown, but it's not an "urban campus" so to speak. It has a pedestrian-only, quiet, beautiful and green campus literally RIGHT in the middle of Montreal.

Montreal is also a fucking awesome place to be a young person. Rent is relatively cheap compared to the rest of Canada, the party scene is super sick, and the city is full of cool street art and hip places to shop, eat and hang out. Definitely a huge factor for me coming here was being in Montreal.

Anyway, it's an awesome school to go to be social, have a fucking blast, meet people from around the world and get a super reputable degree.
