Well the thing is I have a good deal on both of them, I am looking for an all round park ski. (since we don´t get too much pow). I have been skiing the AR7 cant complain great, stable, durable ski. I was looking for something more playful and versatile if possible. I´m around 5,9 ft weight: 154, skill i would say intermediate- advanced (hopefully:-) Also deciding between 176 or 182. Any advice helps, mainly personal experience with armadas so called next level :-) thanks K+
If you hit huge ass jumps, like 50 ft or more, you'll want the extra stiffness of the alpha x. If not, the halos still have a good amount of stiffness to them and are still very capable and stable.
Well I'd say both are equally versatile. They are the exact same ski but the halos are softer. So if you are looking for more playful than ar7 go halo.
Comes purely down to whether you want a soft playful ski or a stiff stable ski.
If you like doing butters, hit more rails than jumps and you hit mainly small to medium sized jumps the Halo 2's would be the best choice.
If you are more of a big jump and feature guy so you like hitting the biggest jumps and features in the park then the AlphaX's would be the better ski. The Alpha's will also probably be better at all mountain skiing and carving because that extra stiffness is going to give you the stability you need to go really fast and make aggressive turns.
At your size though the Halo's shouldn't really have any problem hitting big jumps though because they're soft but not overly soft that they just wash out all the time. Also if you want something more playful than the AR7's then definitely get the Halo's.
At your height I would go for the 182cm. Again it's down the person preference with the 176's it will be easier to spin and throw the skis around with 182's you will have great stability and will be less likely to wash out.
