Multi-impact Helmets vs. Single Impact Helmets

So, I've read a couple of times that helmets designed to receive multiple impacts before being replaced are less effective at protecting you from concussions and more serious brain injury in more serious collisions. I would greatly appreciate if someone could direct me to a study that suggests that this is the case.
I'm in the process of acquiring a new helmet and want to get my facts straight before making a decision.
Sorry if this has already been addressed in another thread, I couldn't find said thread if it does in fact exist.
Thanks!

The question you should really be concerned with is: how do you know how many multiple impacts your helmet can withstand before it is actually not protecting you any more?
The answer is you will never really know. A helmet that is rated for "3 normal impacts" could easily be 100% compromised after a single really big hit. This then gives you a false sense of security because you think it still works, but really it's not going to help you in your next fall.
So, no matter what helmet you look at, the safest way to think about them is to treat them all as "single impact" helmets.

The only helmets that have been tested and proven to help prevent concussions are helmets with MIPS liners. A handfull of brands are dropping helmets that include MIPS this season.
