TRVP_LVRDI want something durable. Butterfly knives aren't illegal in my state, however one of the cons with switchblades is that they are illegal
omnidataOpinel, French, sharp, and the more rust the better.
uni-cornAdamas with D2 tool steel. That knife will outlive you.
omnidata^
Do you even use your knives or do you just keep them in a drawer and take them out for pictures?
division.bellYou mean this one?
Fucking beast of a knife. Literally just under half a pound. So overbuilt its ridiculous, and for that I love it.
Benchmade 275 Adamas (I have the 375 fixed version as well)
Benchmade 950 Rift (154CM)
Benchmade 300-1 Ball Flipper (154CM)
SOG X-ray Vision (VG-10)
CRKT Mt. Shasta (despite my personal distaste for liner locking knives, this has been one of the best knives I've ever owned. Cost me $7 total at the time and I've been using it over 16 years now with no issues whatsoever.)
Blade profiles.
275/950/300-1
The 950's reverse tanto blade is my favorite blade shape ever. Gets the tip strength of a tanto, but doesn't lose out on the utility cutting surface for carving or precise cutting like the tantos.
division.bellI'd stay away from;
Gerber
cobra_commanderOnly reason I own anything Gerber is because they were $free.99.
I have a drawer full of issued auto knives and multi tools I don't use because they suck.
TRVP_LVRDI'm actually replacing my old shitty Gerber. Broke the tip off.

division.bellIf nothing you've seen or been recommended so far has tickled your fancy, you're bound to find something here; http://www.coldsteel.com
I highly advise that you watch some of their product "testing" videos.
cydwhitOh man! The memories, for a long time the only DVD I ever watched at my uncle's house was a cold steel promotional video of them testing all their products, those were the best! "Now we will stab a stack of leather 500 times, now we will climb a wall using the knives as handles, now we will cut 1000 strands of rope!" man that's just a trip down memory lane...
division.bellThey better have had a company BBQ every week with as much meat that they brutally hack into in those videos. I can't begin to imagine the total amount of animals killed in the process. Always good for a laugh though; probably a damn fun place to work with that crazy bastard running things.
saskskierAre they anywhere near as good as they claim?

*DUMBCAN*I have many of these scattered my house. They're so cheap I don't care for losing them or leaving them behind. I have to get them in France, because curiously and ridiculously they're illegal in the UK, apparently locking blades are more dangerous than non-locking. They're not.
