We all get old, whether we like it or not. Issues like this make us wonder if action sports like skiing will become extremely difficult. What are you guys plans for later life? i hope to become more powder focused, and as i age more and more will eventually just ski groomers.
I saw this guy that was in his 80's giving ski lessons once, he was on the bunny hill, but he didn't seem to give a shit. Between that, the Red White and Blue Jacket/pants combo, the enthusiasm with which he taught, and the rad beard, I made my decision I want to be like that guy when i'm old and shitting in diapers.
I'm going to turn 32 this winter. I don't come on to ns everyday like I used to but I still put in 40-50 days a year. For some perspective, session 1242 came out my sophomore year of college. I try to hit the park for at least an hour every time I go to the mountain and I sometimes I stay all day if the snow sucks(I'm on the east coast so it sucks a lot). I don't think I'll ever stop hitting jumps and rails. I'd rather go sledding than ski groomers all day.
I'm 35 and I don't see myself slowing down anyte soon. Shane was 39, and have you ever seen Scott Gaffney or Robb Gaffney ski? Both are in their 40's and killlllling it still. Age is a number and skiing is a lifetime.
I see this one guy at my hill who must be in his 60s just straight airing all the jumps with a grab and hitting a few rails and boxes and he's out there most days probably going to be doing that when i am older
Im gonna ski till I'm in a coffin. Im gonna be an wrinkly ass old man ripping down some moguls, slip on a sheet of ice, blow out my hip and slam head first into a tree... Exploding on impact. Ski patrol will be cleaning me up for days.
Stoked to be the old lady on the hill that has grandkids yelling at her. Obviously, I'm not gonna be able to go as hard as I can in my 20's, but I'll be damed if I stop skiing.
2 guys at my mountain are both between 50-75 in age and both shred the mountain the 70ish year old guy rips his snowboard and often goes in the moguls while the other guy took after his son who before college was the best in the park around 2005-2009 with the always awesome early 2000s style, hardly flipping but his dad compliments my friends and I and he always spread eagles 55' jumps
Older I get the more I love skiing all mountain and shredding everywhere. Really not a park fan anymore. Just love the fact I can throw a mega steezy 3 if I really need to throw down and show off.
Always laugh at the kids who rip the park but can't ski if their life depended on it outside of it. Generally find these are the same kids who act like rude morons in the lift lines. Skiers and snowboarders of the same type.
