Sliding aluminum urban rails

A while back I was talking to someone about hitting some urban. Not hitting much myself I asked about this rail

My friend told me that hitting aluminum rails didn't really work at all and that when he did it he basically just stopped because it was so sticky. I was wondering if any of you had any advice on hitting similar rails/is this true or not about aluminum? Me and a couple friends have been scoping this ledge to flat rail out this summer and would like to hit it come winter.

had a pretty bad experience hitting aluminium so I definately don't recommend it

Edges, don't use them Seriously use some old skis and ROUND that shit. DOn't dull them ROUND them. Not saying you can't slide them without dulling them but if you've ever shaved into a rail, especially with stairs it's well worth it to be careful.

Also that doesn't look like the best first urban spot. A simple down rail that isn't too steep/long is generally the way to go. Definitely steel rails if you can find some good spots.

Yup, girlfriend lives there. That rail isn't all that sketchy at all, only like 10 stairs and 6 feet off the ground. If it was steel we would hit it but it doesn't really seem worth since its aluminum.

For the record, I was thinking about 50-50ing the concrete and then sliding the rail.

those don't look aluminum....

and to make sure bring a magnet and if the magnet sticks to the rail that means it's metal and you're good to go. If it doesn't stick right to the rail then it's aluminum and you should run away run really far away.

ok sorry i worded that wrong but magnets DO NOT attract to aluminum. seriously that's how they determine what kind of metal you have when you bring it to the junk yard.

I don't even understand what you're hitting, it certainly can't be that first down rail and the next flat rail is 5 ft long then goes into a cement pillar...

Have you tried skate wax on the rail, it worked with my aluminum box.

First of all, im a videographer.


Second of all, that pillar is about half way through the rail, maybe 3/5th of the way. Each of those sections is probably two feet long and I see maybe three seconds between the concrete ledge and the pillar. OMG 6ft with about 2ft of slidable area, go read a bible or something.

there are three metals that are magnetic. nickel, iron and cobalt. therefore if its aluminum the magnet wont stick.

i walk by this rail like all the time its at least 15 feet and theres about 5-7 ft between the end of the rail and the pillar

And the pillar is is offset skiers left a few feet.

New question, how well does galvanized steel slide?

Ride along the skinny cement concrete ledge then drop to rail then tranny down to the right. DOPE

The pole is way after the rail and the rail is at least 10 ft, saw this the other day up at UVM and had the same thought. The ice rink dumps the ice shavings not far from that spot, you could grab a wheelbarrow and hit that shit right now.
