Question about Rossi FKS

the plastic piece on the back is cracked. It's severely integral to the binding and you should dismount them and sell them to me for $10 immediately

A crack in any product is never a good sign. Your bindings play a rather crucial role in your enjoyment & safety of the sport, so don't take any chances here.

Take them to the shop you bought them from (or any Rossignol/Look dealer along with a copy of your receipt) and have them get a hold of Rossi for new base plates. Worse case scenario you have to buy new base plates, best case scenario Rossi hooks you up with some. That decision will be made by Rossi after the dealer looks at them.

Either way, you can get it taken care of before the snow falls and you'll be set.

Hmmm im not exactly sure if tjat will be an issue or not, but i think if the crack increases in size or the plastic piece containing the white little tab breaks off it might be an issue

I would personally take it to the shop because bindings are not something to mess with. Its better to prevent possible injuries rather to be paying thousands of dollars because of hospital bills imho lol...

Tldr, take the bindings to a shop to get them inspected and possibly replaced. The crack may be bigger than it looks, and nobody on ns can tell, unless the binding is removed and closely inspected.

I broke 10 baseplates like that in the space of 3-4 years while I used FKS. Check your forward pressure, it might need tightened. Eventually more and more of the plastic cracks and falls off, and eventually the whole back half of it falls off including the forward pressure spring and you really need to get new ones.

damn these comments are a little disheartening... I have the same problem on the same exact fucking spot on one of my pairs. I dont have money to shell out for a new heelpiece. anyone know how long it took for it to break off and mess up the rest of the binding or any possible fixes? I have one possible solution of drilling a small hole at tip of the crack so it doesnt get worse (old mechanic trick for fixing cracking car frames) but I dont want to fuck the structure of the binding up too much.

You wont need to replace the whole heel piece just the base plate which shouldn't be to costly.

onenerdykid is correct in that they should be replaced. However I have been running 2 pairs of mine like that for awhile, as far as I can tell it will just mess with the forward pressure indicator which on the fks heel design doesn't work that well anyway. As long as a reputable shop mounts them they should get tested and will be adjusted according to the machine readings and not just the forward pressure indicator.
