Rusting edges

hey ns,

i recently got a summer setup in my backyard and after 1 week of use , my edges are starting to rust..

what should i do to fix them? file/rock ?? and how can i prevent this in the future . thanks

also edges rust. the rust will come off eventually. no big deal.

I just use a soft gummy stone to remove rust. I have never used the hard ones for removing rust, but the soft ones like this:

rust will eventually come off, or use some of that gummy stuff

Ski on them.

Or use a gummi if you really care. Park skis don't really need to be razorblades most of the time.

Literally makes no difference and is typical especially when you don't wipe your skis down after riding, or at the end of the year. It's not permanent, it's a super thin little layer that comes off with a quick tune, a gummy, and even regular skiing will take it off. Don't trip my dude, and summer shred on.

wipe em down, keep em in a dry room. also, a lil wax coating (just rub it on) doesnt take that long and goes a long way to help

Strictly speaking you should run a stone along your edges after use. If for whatever reason you care about keeping your edge bevel intact, use a file guide. A gummy stone is fine - just keep in mind that they dull your edges. If you want to maintain the edge, use a fine diamond stone or ceramic file just to polish. Wax is always good for maintaining your bases. Not sure how helpful it will be on edges, however.. it will come off pretty quickly.

I mean wax after using your skis. it will prevent it being in contact with the air, hence no rustings

Like has been said, it will come off with use but if you really want to get rid of it then use a gummy stone or one of those fine sand paper blocks. Also make sure you dry your skis if they get wet when you put them away.
