For two years I have been skiing the recoils with mounted FKS140’s and I recently purchased the Atomic Punx. I’m a fairly aggressive skier looking for a binding that is burly like the FKS but cheaper.
Input would greatly be appreciated.

NegromancerNeed to know height, weight and ability before any recommendations can be given.
CONAIR_BUSCEMII’m an advanced aggressive skier. Ski park 60 percent of the time. I’m edging towards getting the Attack 13’s simply because I have heard goods things about their responsiveness and 17mm stand height.
tomPietrowskiAttacks will be great for you they are such a good binding for the price. If a customer can not afford an sth then I always recomend attacks as you get a lot of binding for your money.
CONAIR_BUSCEMIAre the Fischer Attack 13 bindings the same as the TYROLIA Attack 13 Bindings??? I’’m confused.
NegromancerI'm the same height and weight as you and I ski Rossignol Axial2 120's. Great binding for the price they're durable I thrash my skis and ski hard and they haven't had any significant issues (I broke the brakes once and that's it). Also they are very reliable come off and stay on when I want them to and when they do release they release smoothly which is nice.
Between the Attack 13 and Axial2's I would honestly go for which ever one you could find cheaper. Both are great bindings for a person your size. I don't own Attack's but I know a few people who do and they like them a lot.
Lastly in my opinion I would avoid FKS's not because they're a bad binding just because of the cost of maintaining them. If you break the brakes on them you are screwed. The brakes are expensive and difficult to replace and you have very little adjustability on the FKS. If you ski park aggresively and land switch a lot you will most likely end up braking your brakes so look for something that has cheap and easy to replace brakes.

CONAIR_BUSCEMIThanks, I appreciate it a lot. I purchased the Attack13’s and will mount them on my punx and just keep my fks140’s on my recoils.
rachYou get what you pay for.
You aren't going to get a binding that performs like the FKS for cheaper.
egrmaxadamsWhere did you find the Attack 13's?
CONAIR_BUSCEMII got them here at evo. Not the best sale but I had a gift card.

egrmaxadamsAre you keeping the fks on your primary pair of skis?
egrmaxadamsBetween new 2010 griffon schizo and new attack 13s, both are the same price, which would you recommend, pros/cons

grmwbb%100 false.
rachNope.
I'm not saying you can't get a good binding for cheaper.
I'm saying that, in my opinion, the FKS is leaps and bounds in front of most of the other bindings listed. And if you want something that performs as well for cheaper, you probably aren't going to find it.
There is a reason that the FKS and the Pivot are more expensive than most downhill bindings. That heel has a more consistent, reliable release than anything else on the market, not to mention they are extremely durable in comparison to most bindings. The toe in the FKS 140 has a fixed AFD and a lot more metal than STH 12, Attack, Griffon or Axial. Will the vast majority of people notice the benefits of these differences? Fuck no.
Thats why you see derps skiing around on $800 skis with the Marker Squire.
grmwbbThe fks 140 toe has no metal at all in it. The 180 has the metal toe. A fixed afd? Almost all bindings have a fixed afd. How exactly is a fks140 more durable than an sth2,attack, etc.? How do you know it has a more consistent and reliable release? Have you studied every binding and compared? I ride fks and they're great bindings but they are insanely over hyped and definitely getting sth2s as my next bindings.
rachA fixed afd? Almost all bindings have a fixed afd.
I wish. Believe me, there are still plenty of bindings on the market w/out a fixed AFD. The Griffon does not have a fixed AFD, and I don't believe the Attack does either. Most skiers won't notice the play in the forefoot caused by a sliding AFD. But at high speed, an experienced skier probably will. Besides, it's just another piece vulnerable to being broken.
How exactly is a fks140 more durable than an sth2,attack, etc.?
In addition to the above, the FKS heel (140 and 180) has quite a bit more metal housing than the other listed bindings (exception being maybe the STH2). The FKS 180 toe is obviously much more bomb proof than that of the 140. However, I believe the 140 does still have metal in high-stress areas and in my opinion, is a more practical build than the "Triple Pivot Elite Toe Piece" from Marker (Mimicked by Tyrolia/Fischer/Head/4FRNT/Liberty/etc. in the Attack 13).
How do you know it has a more consistent and reliable release?
The pivoting heel allows for more elastic travel than any other binding. Period. This means drastically less pre-releasing. Yes, FKS has essentially the same toe as the Axial2 with a slightly higher din capability (they call it the "Dual Action Toe"). The difference is in the heel, and you pay for the patent on the pivot heel technology.
Have you studied every binding and compared?
Yeah, basically. I have worked in ski hardgoods retail since I was 16. I have skied on a lot of bindings. I have also sold and conducted warranties on a lot of bindings. I have sat through many multi-hour clinics centered around binding performance and differentiation. The FKS very rarely has warranty requests in comparison to most bindings.
Not trying to hate on the STH2, it's an awesome option (although I personally prefer the old STH build). I'm just trying to point out that, as it is with most expensive sporting equipment, you do get what you pay for to some extent. That said, not everyone will appreciate the benefits provided by a more expensive product.
Anyways, i'm over arguing about ski equipment on the internet

.nylessimilar feel? right.... that janky heel piece on the axial wobbles more the dubstep after a while.
