Z_BeneschSometimes. It definitely helps when you watch a trick you are going to actually try but usually other than that its just for entertainment

Profahoben_212With longboarding I like to take edits down to frame by frame and watch their slides. It helps a lot to just break it down and go step by step.
I suppose you could do the same with skiing.
spaceghostpurpI think of a longboard as the pussy skateboard. Come talk to me after you have dropped in to a 25 ft halfpipe.
immasskiing with someone and watching them, and actually being able to (or trying to) mimic their actions, that will make you a better skier.
OregonDead^this is pretty much how I learned to ski. Whenever I ski with someone that I consider a good skier I try to follow and copy them.
Snowtorious_BIGfor me personally it's more of a motivational, pump up kind of thing, but seeing other people do tricks would probably help your visualization at least a little bit. Imagine trying to throw a trick that you've never seen done before, it would be a shit show.
