Do "freestyle" boots make that much of a difference

By freestyle boots I mean full tilts, or spk's, I was wondering if they make a huge difference when riding in the park, I switched to park skiing last year and I'm wondering if I should spend the money to get a nice pair of full tilts, what benefits do they have?

Full tilt have no features tht make tem freestyle. Yes the spk does have some features spefic to freestyle but they should not be a deciding factor. Go for the boot which the fitter recommends for you.

Full tilts are know for their various "flex" and their inter-changeable tongues but they are not for everyone. I can't stand the feel of fulltilts on my feet. If you are looking to buy boots buy the one that is the most comfortable one that you can last the full day in.

Good advice but remember when you initially try a boot it probably won't be that comfy. They want to be tight. It's not until you get footbeds made and shell and liner work done that the boots will get comfy. So initially don't expcet a pair of slippers. It takes fitting and bedding in to get good ski slippers.

I think full tilts are great. They are really light, which is good for park, and they help with shin bang. Nothing sucks more than landing funny, getting shin bang, and not being able to throw down on a perfectly good day.

Also, the intuition liners are really comfy when heat molded, and really warm

Its not going to matter a ton but you dont want to get a stiff boot typically. And depending if you are in park or powder there wont be much of difference unless you are at a high end stage.

That is a big misconception. If you look at what most pros where they will be in "stiff" boots. Having a boot too soft will mean you wash out more, don't get as much pop and will have a harder time buttering.

Don't get Full Tilts. They're soooo overpriced, but the SPKs are fairly priced and pretty good I heard

Listen to this man. Go buy the boot that fits you and fits what your doing.

Actually go get the foot bed you need made 1st by someone who knows that there doing. Having your foot supported properly in any boot will make all the difference in whatever your doing.

The freestyle boots have a few things that make them specific to freestyle but a lot of it is marketing. That said, I'm a hypocrite and got the full tilts even though they didn't fit my feet until I got them fitted because they look sick as fuck

the most important thing is to get boots that are solid and work, will fitting your feet at the perfect fit recommended. full tilts run a little narrow and some other boots run different as well. I love my full tilts for park but that doesn't mean they are for everyone. Just get the boot that fits you right, it'll work for park just fine if it fits.

I mean i was riding some drop kicks and they were ok. I thought the flex was a little soft but really i didnt like them at all. I just sold them and have moved on to some tecnica cochise 90's. I know they are soft to but they were so comfortable.

Probably yes in most cases. But pick a boot that feels good on YOU. Like some people don't like Full Tilts but I have the 2013 white and orange dropkicks and love them to death. I would not choose any other boot. But that's just me.

"Freestyle" boots tend to have better impact protection (softer boot boards at the heel), but thats about it.

Freestyle boots tend to be flexy and light. They also have better impact protection. Investing in a good pair of boots is worth it if you want to have a good time on the mountain.

Ther is no hate I don't think. They hav been one of the only boots on te market with features spefic to fs. But it's an old boot it came out I 06 so I the 8 years since it came out a lot has changed. Originally people thought a wider more upright boot was ideal for park. These days most skiers have transitioned back to more eve inspired boots. Look at the ghost fs the new spk. It uses a 100 last rather then 104 and is a much better boot all round due to the shell developments that have occurred over the years. so yeah spk were great the are just a bit dated now but the new ghost fs picks up right where the spk left off.
