Rockering skis

does anyone know how to do a home made rocker job on skis pics would be appreciated

-Duct tape skis with bases facing each other where you would like the rocker to start.
-slide peices of wood into tips so they are bent out.
- leave sit for a very long time
-I have no idea if it will work

Replace the wood with something that won't burn, hit em with the blowtorch, and bam! I'm like 67% sure you now have rockered skis.

i dont know if a blow tourch is the best idea it might melt the top sheet i was thinking like a heat gun or hair dryer

Blow torch is fine. I've heard of tons of people doing it to turn like old carving skis and junk into twin tips, there is no way a hair dryer is gonna get hot enough to actually do anything at all.

I made a wooden frame, fastened the skis down right outside of the bindings with clamps, and slide down 2x4's between the frame and the skis. Did this until I found the rocker that I wanted. After the 2x4's were in, I hit it with a heat gun (Not a blow torch), and then let them sit to cool down outside. It worked extremely well, the only problem I found was while they were strong bending with the rocker, if you flipped the over and pushed the opposite way, they snapped very easily

All this sounds like a terrible idea. It's probably a better idea to just buy a pair of rocked skis rather than potentially ruining a good pair.

Instead of making a thread, i thought I would ask here. I have some old carving skis and I want to turn them into twin tips. how would i do this?

I rockered a pair of ancient volkl bridges 5 years ago, it can be done but it severely weakens the wood core of the ski and edges. My edges cracked eventually and when i hit a mogul too hard my ski broke in half. I don't recommend doing it but if you want to you need a heat gun and a mold to shape the ski while heating it.

I've done it 2 ways.

-C clamps and 2x4s

-Heat gun and an old bender bar used to "straighten skis" back in the day

the heat gun works better... when i tried the first approach the c clamp snaped and shot across the room

I added tip rocker to my FX94s by skiing on them. The old Olympic run in Axamer and threw a carve on forgetting I wasn't on my GS skis... Its quite a sight seeing the tips on your skis curl round on piste in front of you. They both have some very nice early rise now.

Unless your current skis are beat to shit sell them and buy a similar pair with rocker.
You will save a lot of time and your new rockered skis will last longer than the home made ones would.
