Austria. there are so many schools where people go ski instead of PE in winter and skiing is part of the culture, so noone will look at you funny if you tell them you skied for 100 days in a season.
After living in Tahoe, Utah, and Summit county CO, for several years each, I would say North Lake Tahoe. So much to do year round, from kayaking, climbing, beaches, Mt biking, and then there is the shredding. Just to top it off. Plus you have the parks at Nstar and Squaw (now Spt) and the mountain terrain squaw and alpine have to offer in your backyard. Plus just an awesome vibe, the Squaw community speaks for itself. I've never felt that vibe anywhere else.
I think wherever you are close to the mountains. Obviously you aren't going to be shredding much pow/big mtn lines on the east coast but if it's just skiing in general and park doesn't really matter as long as there's easy access to a decent mountain, and your parents hook it up with rides and a pass it's all good.
Honestly I would go with people over location in terms of parts of the country. I would definitely want a decent mountain with some tree skiing and a good park but idk. That said you can get a good crew going most anywhere.
For the East Coast, I give North Conway NH my vote. One of the biggest year round vacation spots, has several ski areas surrounding it. Worldclass hiki, biking, climbing, kayaking, etc.
The community is tight nit and iysit's easy to get to major cities like portland Maine (1 hour) and Boston (2. 5 hours). Also an hour from the ocean.
I grew up in Virginia and really wish I had grown up here in SLC, UTAH! Best powder in the world and the resorts are ALL relatively close to each other.

I would concur. Anywhere around the Reno/Tahoe area is great if you want you kids skiing. I grew up in Carson City and it was
Truckee or north lake tahoe. Great people, epic skiing, the lake, frickin good food. Just all around a great place, except for when all the people from the bay area make the weekend pilgrimage.
Minnesota. All of those kids are so hyped on skiing and get really good given the hills they ski before they move out to Colorado and take full advantage of better parks
Salt Lake City, Utah. You can hit 4 huge resorts along with easy access to backcountry. Then if you drive for 15 min east you reach Park City, and shred that mountain.

As much as I want to say Truckee, CA I'm gonna have to go with Bozeman, MT. The kids up here absolutely rip. Most of them start out at a smaller resort (that has some very tough terrain) and continue to progress. Watching the little kids rip at Bridger is one of my favorite things.
Only when you're used to the worst can you really appreciate the best. I know people who grew up in rad places like UT and CO and don't realize how good they have it.
steamboat HS kids can get skier schedule. Out at 12:30 and skiing by 1. Not to mention teacher meetings, blues break (WTF is that?) and god knows what else, those kids never go to class.
