HamletYeah shitty beats with a sax wildly playing over it seems to be what the public understands as deep house. It's really a shame that those uninspired tracks get more sales then creative stuff. Not saying that having any saxophone in your track makes it bad, but most producers are over doing it. The sax should add to the beat not carry the song on its own.

elindeThat sax has really started to get on my nerves. It was good, at one point, but now it's getting really monotonous and boring. If you can make it work, then by all means do it, but I haven't heard it in a while.

jfpI hear you on the sax trax getting tired. I used to bust my buddies balls all the time because every track he dropped had a sax in it lol. But, the saxophone is a true instrumental sound giving classic timeless feel to otherwise monotonous digital overtones. It's really all how the producer lays it out. I have been completely over trends like acid or disco than a producer reinvents it in a new more relevant manner. So, I never close the doors to anything per say.

N-John360Not a huge fan of sax trax, but when I think of sax, Laurent Garnier's classic Man with the Red Face immediately comes to mind. This was one of the first songs that hooked me onto techno / house and I will always love it.

Ben.LAS, Gantz, Mikael, Kahn are all crazy.

TMSV deserved to be on that list for sure, love what hes doing.

Thelem is killing it, actually I like the direction J:Kenzo has taken Artikal in general, seems to be getting out of that dungeoney stereotypical sound Kryptic Minds started that got beat to death.

EshOne is killing it in the states, as is AxH.

And Ive been playing a ton of that jazzy stuff from Deep Heads, Mindstep, Chord Marauders, etc.

Find it funny that Killawatt is on there, dude has already seemed to head the techno route, hasnt he put out a bunch of stuff on Pinch's techno label?

Dubstep is very much alive and will stay that way, but without all the crap and hype. Like it better that way anyways.

maximiliaannever been to dekmantel but have been to other parties in ADE. There are festivals like dekmantel in amsterdam every week, so if you want to come in the summer you are save to go to a festival :).

and if you want to go clubbing in amsterdam you should visit trouw, but you have to be fast because it will close in a few weeks. its a small version of berghain wich is open 24/7.

but there are a lot more places to be there!

CliffyByroYoooo you got into berghain? I was in Berlin a couple months ago but we didn't even bother trying. Went to one called Weekend which was unreal though. Partying on top of a 17 story block til 6am is highly recommended

N-John360I tried to get into Berghain 3 times, was rejected twice and made it in the last time. I guess it sometimes depends on who the bouncer is. The first two times I went really late after going to other parties, the last time I went right at the beginning of the night. I was literally wearing the same exact thing too. Thankfully that was the New Years Eve party which went for like 3 days, in total I was there for about 40 hours (with naps in betewen).

CliffyByrogreen velvet/ cajmere is so good live. so fucking intense though, i saw him at a festival here a few months ago (along with kerri chandler, among others) and i was so destroyed by the end of the day (he was on last) i could not handle the crazy lights and filthy techno. was still an awesome set though, would see again in a heartbeat

las.Says the trendwhore flocking to an obscure genre that died a decade ago because vice told him to. Sorry, but no one cares about happy hardcore anymore. Techno on the other hand is still huge

las.Yeah, all those guys are killing it. LAS' EP is insane (especially Lesson, such a tune), and I'm pretty sure he has an LP coming out (possibly on System) which should be equally as mental if we're going by his previous dubby stuff (https://soundcloud.com/lasvain/nestori-vuorilla-on-maa-las). Gantz has an album coming out too, which is immense. Mikael's EP on Innamind is sick, also...eugh, it's almost all too much.
I think what I'm most excited for though is the Kahn and Gorgon Sound plates coming on Deep Medi. Kahn is just ridiculous - I can't get enough of those big dubwise, sound system vibes at the moment
Yeah, Thelem definitely took a while to gain some traction, but Haunted Harmonics EP was very impressive - big things from him. Artikal is doing very well for itself - stepping away from dungeon needed to be done.
Killawatt has always had that real rough techno tinge to his music, in my opinion, though nowadays it certainly is coming through a bit clearer (re: Threads EP). He has a very impressive range of work actually, now that I think about it..
Dubstep is without a doubt alive and kicking
