Earthquake in Napa, CA

Finally, a real earthquake in Northern California... Strongest one since the 1989 world series quake.

Pretty good amount of damage for a 6.0, too. upwards 100 people injured, 3 in critical from stuff falling on them.

Apparently the worst of all - lots of broken wine bottles :(

Sucks for some people out there. My aunt moved back after the big one because it scared her girlfriend a bunch to stay out there after. I still have another aunt out there in San Jose.

I guess it's one of those things when you live certain places. Near a fault, volcano, in tornado country etc. It's always a possibility but you just keep on and hope it doesn't take you out

^The big one hasn't hit yet?

...there hasn't been a megathrust quake since 1906. This quake didn't even happen on the San Andreas fault, either. It happened on the North section of the Hayward fault.

My parents were there for their anniversary a week before the quake. Lot of damage. Only a small percentage of people actually have earthquake insurance because the rates are high deductibles very high as well. State hasn't had a major one since Northridge.

There was a 6.5 quake in 2003 down in Paso Robles that was pretty damaging as well. I remember it because a few days after the quake, my family and I were driving down to San Diego and all you could smell for miles was the rotten egg smell of sulfur.
