The industry has gone through some huge changes over the past decade when it comes to effort being put into freestyle terrain programs. Lots of resorts have stepped up to the plate to offer legitimate parks for their guests and lots of resorts are still living in the stone age.

Is your tiny hill have a terrible park?
Are you forced to ride rusty/bent scrap metal rather than a proper box or rail?


Show me the worst park or park features still in existence today.

You job huntin TL? I was kind of doing the same thing through some of the threads people were posting about "______ has a terrible park"

Any place can have a good park if they have the features, or have the budget, and management aren't total douchers.

Brule.Mount Jore used to have a really god-awful park until a couple of years ago when they really slowly started making improvements.

They used to have a pretty sweet park in the mid to late 90's. They seem to be trying again the last few years but they're clueless on what to do. The picture of that super super steep down flat rail goes to show. Went there this year and there was a 10' gap onto an aframe rail, and the front of the rail and takeoff were like 6" off the ground. How the fuck was that supposed to work

Lucky.Gore mountain in ny is sketchy at best


For sure.

They have the money, they could put it into the park budget, unlimited snowmaking potential, good park real estate, brand new PB fleet, good crowd including people in the park even though their park has blow for a long time.

I put 2 years into that place. Biggest waste of time ever. Would be cool to see somebody competent run their park but they're comfortable right now and they don't feel any reason to change. At least johara seemed to have gotten better in the cat. But they have the ability to have a SICK park there yet they've only been able to achieve a kind of decent park depending on what features you look at. Some shit there is straight sketch.

CalebTheKillianCoffee Mill had probably the worst terrain park in existence last year. Nearly everything was unhittable. I'm in charge of the terrain park there this year though, so hopefully things change. I don't have any pictures but the best rail there was an 8ft "flat" rail that was bent to shit and the paint was chipped off everywhere


you don't know shit about a bad park until you spend a season riding Welch. Coffee Mill's park was nothing special this year, but it was miles ahead of a few other area resorts' parks, and that's a fact. The features might be janky, but at least there's terrain to ride & transitions to find there.

Sunlight Mtn. is pretty terrible. I think they had one rail (which you couldn't see until you were on the jump leading up to it), a box, and a jump with a snowmaker-mound-landing.

And each week the park crew would make edits of themselves doing 50-50's and falling every time.

Quite funny actually

I think the worst thing is places that have the features but don't set them up right. I see some pictures and I'm like, fuck that park could be sick just give me a weekend.

Hahahahaha yea that's a joke, maybe I'm biased because I worked in the park for several years. But in the southeast we are definitely top 3 and have turned out probably 5 sponsored riders in 6 years of operation. My boys will run laps on ya. Don't fuck with the crew brah

Matthew_DenhamMy local hill pats peak nh is definitely not the worst but their landings are flat as shit and sometimes have straight up moguls all over them. Then they tried to be creative and put the best rail they had on the side of a null, let it get buried and then forgot it was there after they closed and the groomer broke it while dismantling the park.
Also fun fact, it's rumored by park staff that the park groomer does coke on the job.


And not to mention they closed down the entire park to blow snow on it the day Henrik and Phil showed up for the BE tour. So many hyped kids but the only thing to hit was the s-box which they had to set up and a small flat down rail later in the evening. Since they've had a park, Pat's Peak has been very consistent in their shitty-ness.

Yeah literally the only way to hit it. Other wise you would land hard on an up and get fucked. It was stupid. Also there were unnecessarily on EVERYTHING.

Even the shit in the beginner park had big gaps on stuff. I'm down with making things challenging but their park was just sketchy. 8+ foot gaps on to flat rails, gaps onto down rails and all that.

If it's about the rail length build longer rails, then you can gap halfway down if you want but ride in a somewhat sane manner if you don't.

I think 07/08 I set the a frame up as a flat down with one of the 8-10' downs on the end to add length. That was pretty fun. Idk. Even though they fucked me I hate to be a dick, and it does seem like they're trying but whoever is making the decisions needs to think a little more.

You don't need to make shit as difficult or sketchy as possible. Challenging features are cool but your park should be fun and flowable for the target group and most people in the park would be sketched the fuck out by a lot of that stuff.

Oh well.


Also the jumps are hit or miss. He can build a good jump at least as of 08/09/ That was probably the best jump they had for overall. Wasn't huge but rode well. Going down wild air this winter you'd hit a jump that would be a 1/4 pipe with a 30' gap, then something mellow with a 10' gap that you'd over shoot. They had that one pole jam that was pretty much vertical. Idk maybe the fact that it was stupidly icey but i think the park was still kind of sketchy.

Mt. La Crosse is my home hill and they have a terrible park...one box has been in use as long as I, or anyone can remember...it has gotten better in the past two years, but needs a lot of work...what else am I supposed to do on a hill with only 500 ft of elevation!

Wow this is the first time I've ever seen/heard of anyone on ns that goes to Mt. La crosse! But yeah the park has gotten better but still needs much improvement..

The mountain that is closest to me which is wildcat, pretty steep but not very big and they barley groom there trails usually has a not so great park I mean they have like 1 small jump and some rails and boxes, its alright. But for some reason this year it was terrible, literally their park was on the beginner slope with two mounds of snow piled on the side about 3 feet tall, they weren't even jumps, just mounds of snow and they had the park sign up and everything, it was horrid. I'm not sure why though because the other mountain that owns them which is called attitash has 3 terrain parks and I'd say they are pretty good parks as well because they have a nice rail setup and the jumps are great and they have one park for each skill level so its nice but for some reason wildcats is terrible, luckily I live close to loon and Sunday river.

Caught edge so many times attempting that C-box resulting in many concussions. I'm so happy you put this in here thank god. I'm glad everyone can see what horrible conditions I have been forced to ski in for like 4 years!!!! ANDES BLOWS

you hit your head / fall hard =/= concussion.

did you see a doctor?
did he diagnose you with a concussion?
if you answered no to either, then you dont have a concussion.
because if you DID have a concussion, you would immediately go to the hospital or doctor, because your head would feel like its going to fucking explode.

"resulting in multiple concussions".
if you have multiple concussions over your life time, let alone over a single ski season, youre brain would be scrambled.

I think Peak Resorts owns them which it makes it funny since they have Mount Snow, Big Boulder, and BMBW all which loom to have killer parks. I guess it all has to do with the individual mountain ops

And actually yeah I went straight to the ER and the doctor diagnosed that I had a hairline fracture in my skull which resulted in minor bleeding and swelling of the brain so yeah. You could say I had a concussion and yeah, my head DID feel like it was going to "fucking explode". Oh, and sorry i said "mulitple". Sometimes you gotta just take things with a grain of salt bro damn.

typically, when your brain is bleeding, even minor, they drill holes in you skull to release the pressure and stop the bleeding. this prevents things like permanent brain damage, and oh jeez, i dunno, death!

Damn dude chill. First of all there was no need to call him out it was half a year ago let it go. You might also want to get your facts straight with concussions. You can have multiple and not be mentally fucked if they aren't major concussions. One of my buddies has had 4 and still plays hockey and skis and rides motocross. Yes they were all diagnosed. They were mild so they didn't fuck him up. Also cancer is a completely different situation. It is a disease that kills thousands of people. It is not caused by human activity like concussions are you don't just get concussions you have to do something to get them so there is a hell of a lot of a difference between exaggerating a concussion and exaggerating cancer

You're a little bitch, who cares if he exaggerated? I didn't know concussions were such a touchy subject. Btw dude I found this lump on my face I think it's cancer, but it looks like a pimple. Also I think I cracked my skull in half after I feel 300ft out of the sky. It's not an exaggeration I promise.

you get different levels of concussion, i've been concussed once, and no my head didn't feel 'like it was gonna explode', yes i did have amnesia, nausea and dizziness for a few days after. Trivialising minor concussions by saying you haven't got concussion unless your head feels like it's gonna explode will only lead to people not taking adequate time to rest/not report it.

Hey man, i really think you need to just calm down about the whole concussion thing. Listen, I'm truly sorry I said I got multiple concussion on that C-Box. In reality I only got 1. But I don't think you needed to bring this up from like last august just to flaunt your "medical terms" in everyones face. For someone who gets this passionate about concussions I feel as though you may have had some hurtful experiences of your own with concussions and I'm sorry about that and I hope you're all good. I'll start taking them seriously.
It's my home hill, that c-box sucks, and I just felt the need to rant about how sucky that feature was by saying it caused me a lot of injury. It had NOTHING to do with me getting concussions and everything to do with the C-Box. So accept my apology for not taking concussions seriously and please let it go. Im sorry. I just want all this spam alerts that I'm getting from this thread 6 months ago to end.

Not even taking a side here but I do know many people who flaunt concussions and use them as a way to seem cool, so when I hear my friends say they've had multiple and act all cool about it it pisses me off, because the reality is when they bonk their head on their car getting they come in saying " oh ho my 5th concussion hur dur" when it's not, and then people don't take head injuries seriously. And they are serious. I fucked myself pretty bad with one. So I can see where he is coming from. Also a few years back crystal had this janky rainbow rail that was more of a steep A frame than rainbow. Ate shit on that many times.

Go to hunter mountain in new york there "jumps" are solid ice there rails were spray painted over so its ultra sticky and the box some how makes you slip off it. also the jumps are about 2 inches off the ground

if you think youre concussed, consult a doctor.
if you just smacked your head, dont go around telling everyone you have a concussion, its takes away from the actual seriousness of real head injuries.


A concussion is a brain injury that happens when you get a "blow to the head", a "bump on the head", or a "jolt" to the body that alters the way a person thinks, feels, or behaves. You don't need to be "knocked out" for a concussion to occur; in fact, most concussions occur without a loss of consciousness (e.g., "blacking out", "seeing stars", etc.). If you have had your "bell rung", it's likely that you have had a concussion.
