tomPietrowskiWhich ski, the prestor? Obviously there is a lot more to consider then just edges. What type of ski do you want? Do you want something similar to the ar7? Other then the edge wearing was there anything you did not like? What did you like about them?
awhippleI honestly really loved the flex of the ar7. I loved everything about them just the edge. But idk im not super picky about the flex and everything.
tomPietrowskiWell if you loved the ar7 the prestor is the only one I would look at. It will be a fair bit heavier though then an ar7 which is a pretty light ski thanks to the 50/50 build. What happened to the edge? Is it just a delam underfoot? How many days do you ski rails a season do you think?
NegromancerI have a pair of AR7's and I think the edge is incredibly strong. I ski them in a snowdome with lots of rails and after more than a year of constant rail and box hits they only have one edge crack underfoot on both skis. I must of grind(ed?) them hundreds of times and I don't ski lightly on them so the damage to the edge for the amount of time they've been used is nothing.
If you're hitting a backyard set up so often and you ski the park at the mountain a lot I can guarantee you, you will destroy the edges on any ski now matter how good the quality is. So because of this I would look at getting a cheap second hand pair of skis just for use in the backyard. Maybe keep your current AR7's for the backyard and then get a new pair of AR7's or Prestors that you just use for the mountain?
Also if you get new skis make sure you give them a detune underfoot. If you hit rails with sharp edges you will catch an edge and this will probably cause either the edge or your body to break.
awhippleAbout 50 days at the resort but I have snow in my back yard 6 months out of the year and back there about 5 days a week for 3 hours a day
