Replying to Building a metal rail

So I just bought some turf and put it outside for a backyard set up, and it slides well and stuff but I tried to hit my PVC rail and my edge just caught and I ate it. I have this years pipe cleaners and they've got really sharp metal edges that don't like the soft PVC plastic so I've been trying to figure out how to build a metal rail. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also on an unrelated note what kind of material do people use as box surfaces.
