BillnyeAlright would the axial 12 work or the 2014 jesters i do a lot of butters and am constantly throwing my weight around and do not want pre release. Is the twelve to low because I've heard if you set them at the highest din they dont last as long
BillnyeWell I've been riding the 2012 squires do they have about the same height or no cause i would probably go with the jesters because my local shop sells marker and rossignol only only services them to
rozboonI don't get the hate on FKS brakes. If you're skiing enough park that you're going to ruin brakes, stockpile brakes from old skis (swapmeets, junk sales, goodwill etc) and learn how to change them yourself. It's a pain that you have to pull the heel off but personally I think it's not a dealbreaker.
Plus the old brakes seem to be made from way, way tougher steel than the new ones.
IceCoastPThey are a good binding, like others have said the brakes are a pain in the ass to replace. You could probably get away with fks 180/p18. If you are interested I know someone selling P18's for cheap so PM if interested. And the Look Pivot 18's(green) would look super sick on the new ON3P FR's!
tomPietrowskiCome in man at least read the thread if you are going to reply. The op is currently using squires. Do you really think a squire to a fks 180 is a fair enoug jump? It's crazy. The op will be fine on griffons and can go jesters if he wants but there is no need really.
bnewbs6I don't get the hate on the fks 14s. they are one of the best bindings I've ever ridden. Super durable and the release is sick. Saved my knees multiple times. The brakes are annoying if you break them, but that is seriously the only downfall. Your shop sounds stupid for turning away such an ingenious binding.
tomPietrowskiquite a few shops are not doub them anymore. They are just far too much of a hassle for most shops. They also have some of the worst adjustment for forward pressure so ovetall they are just not appealing to shops. They don't work better then other equivalent bindings but have more issues so they are not really an appealing binding these days Especially from a business point of view.
rozboonAt my local shop they're a special-order item, but at least the techs know how to get the forward pressure dialled (ignore the mark...)
In some ways I can understand the argument around the FKS140/Pivot 14 as it has a lot of very good competition in that space. The Attack 13 looks particularly good, basically a third-generation Griffon with most of the issues ironed out.
However in the 18-DIN binding space, the 180/18 with the one piece metal toe still has a place.
