Were driving up from Denver, I had also considered that but were gunna ski for 3 days so I'm gunna be buying a multi day pass to save money.

not sure how much the multi-day saves and maybe you already know this but you can buy discounted single day passes at local shops outside the resorts. just a thought

alta is going to be cheaper seeing as all the unlimited amounts of cheap lodging and places to eat in SLC. PC is going to buttfuck you on everything peak-season. unless you have good hookups on deals, most certainly expect to pay a bit more for things up here in the winter.


For all around skiing, PCMR is the best resort in PC for all around skiing. January was a bit bare for us, but most of the mtn was open. lots of fun little tree runs, plenty of fun groomers, and the best parks in utah (in my opinion).


Alta's gonna pack a lot more punch that PC-area resorts. PC resorts have steep terrain here and there, but with Alta/Cottonwoods, Steep and badass terrain is literally everywhere you look. the cottonwoods are one of the best places to ski on earth, so youre in for a doozy of a trip.


if youre on a budget, alta is your best bet. if youre okay with throwing down a bit extra cash, PC is right up your alley. you really cant go wrong with either one, though. Its utah, and we have some of the best skiing on planet earth.

represent the 801! utah is super fun but winters can be hit and miss here. you might come and it doesnt snow once the entire time. you might be one of the lucky people that fly in/drive or whatever right when the biggest blower pow day of the season hits.
Park city:
PC is a blast but the vibes there are a bit different (i dont know what youre used to so mabe not) but when i go to pc i notice it feels sorta like a competition atmosphere in the means of when you drop in on the rail areas of the park you have to know your line feature after feature. theres generally no stopping before a feature. you drop in, mob through whatever rail line you pick, and if you eat it you hope theres not someone right behind you hitting the feature right then (in my experience- there most likely will be so watch out)
Alta:
alta is a very fun place. especially on pow days. but i will warn you that if its a pow day it is hard to get up there. ive known people waking up at five to go get a spot in line to drive up the canyon or if LCC (little cottonwood canyon- canyon where snowbird and alta are located) is actually open then to drive up there. there tend to be a lot of avalanches in the canyon itself that may potentially slide onto the road so when there is a lot of snowfall it tends to be closed so avy guys can get their job done. and when i say wait in line with their car i mean wait in line. the cars get backed up for a mile sometimes just waiting to get up there. its insane. i mean to the point you can be waiting hours to get up.
Other resorts:
Big cottonwood canyon( the entrance is about a 5 minute drive north from little cottonwood canyon - big cottonwood canyon has two resorts- brighton and solitude.

solitude can be a really good time on pow days. you get on the lift up to honeycomb canyon and it is a really good time with some fresh snow. expect moguls and a fun atmosphere.

Brighton is a great place. this is my home mountain and the vibes are great and a lot of fun. this is where i for sure get my season pass to each year because they have a fun park and when it snows there are a lot of fun stashes and pow cliff lines. i like it because it has a little of everything wether it be sunny spring park laps or bottomless pow runs. so brighton is a really fun time but where you are visiting its really understandable you want to go get the utah experience.

uhm there are numerous other resorts but i have never made it to them so i couldnt speak on behalf of those resorts.

hotels: like the earlier post said rent a car and stay in the valley. this could be the way to go in my opinion. check the weather stats on noaa. if it says alta is getting a bunch of snow then go all the way up and get into a hotel there so you will get the pow you want at a great resort and wont have to risk the canyon getting closed and waiting in line. plus if the canyon closes youll be in a hotel up there and itll be much less crowded therefore many more pow lines just for you. i personally wouldnt go to a hotel in pc. i would rent a car (spend the money and get one suitable for the snow because trust me it can get really sketchy really quick) and stay in a hotel by big cottonwood and little cottonwood canyon. because the resorts in those canyons will be the ones youll want to go to if we have a random snowfall and im guessing youre coming here for some powder. then you could also drive around to park city if wanted.

there is a hotel really close to both big cottonwood and little cottonwood near my house that would be a good location to stay in the valley near the entrances to those canyons:

ALTA and SNOWBIRD for big mountain skiing.

BRIGHTON is all time though. Trees for days and their park has stepped up tremendously if you get the earge for it.

Brighton is going to have the cheaper passes and the best feel to it and a lot of it has to do with the people. Good vibe.

Alta can be a little stuck up but is all time for skiing. Also, if you play it right and know where to go you can get into snowbird. Which is nice.

yea man i love my home mountain (brighton) but i mean you might want to hit pc just cause its very known and why not have the experience of it and if you come back youll know if you like it or not. but i think with brighton and alta youll have a good time no matter what
