Remount new bindings on skis

I got some skis for cheap, but they came with shit bindings, can i remount better bindings on, or will it weaken the ski to much?

depends on how many times they have been mounted. if this is only the second time mounting them youll be just fine

It totally depends on the binding hole patterns as well. A good psedorule is if you draw 25mm diameter circles around each existing hole it should not touch any of your new holes. Obviously this varies ski to ski depending on core and laminate materials.

Again a big misconception. The amount of times they have been mounted is not important it's the holes themselves and the placement. You may find that even one mount may mean there are hole conflicts and you will not be able to mount. This is where the 3 time thing comes from. Generally after 3 mounts there is just no space to mount even though the ski could take it fine if there was space.

yes thats true, but there should not be a conflict if you just move the binding 1cm forward and then redrill? with that being said with the skis which have been mounted once shouldnt have any problems. correct?

No that's the point it's not tht easy. Say you are changing bindings but you want the same mount point and same size boots. You may find you can't do it and you need to change mount point. So you can't say it will always work.

ok, in that case it would be fairly difficult, i didnt realize he wanted to stay at the same mounting point.

Depends on the waist width, also you might discover a previous remount. Then you might as well put a drop saw through them. If they are demo bindings just grab the biggest grinder from home depot and just hack them off. Other wise just remount to centre or -2 back and everything is averted
