Quick question about moving a binding

Last christmas my dad wanted to suprise me with a new pair of skis and bindings. I didnt know about it until christmas day .

So I found out when he took them to the shop to get the bindings put on, they asked if he would like to have the bindings 2cm behind from centre, being a non-skiing dad he just went ahead with it as it was a suprise so he couldnt ask me.

Anyway, is it possible to move the binding back to centre and drill new holes or will is destroy the ski?

yes you will be fine, they will just take of the binding and mount it dead center if thats where you want it( yes they will have to drill new holes). they will also fill the old holes so water wont get into your core. they should be just fine!

Maybe you should try them out before you redrill. If its only 2 cm difference I don't think its really worth it

Well I rode them this season but I dont know If ill change it because I was just wondering if it was even possible

It's possible. Will you notice the difference? Probably not.

It will definitely work, a ski can be redrilled a few times, but don't try it yourself if you don't know what you're doing, have a tech do it. If you want them mounted at a specific location (i.e. true center or whatever), measure yourself before taking them to the shop, that way you make sure they get it right this time. Redrilling once is fine, twice is probably okay, but especially being a second drilling you want to make sure you get it right.

To people saying you won't notice the difference, I disagree, I had a pair of bindings moved 2cm forward and noticed a big difference. Depends on the person I guess.

What skis are they exactly? If they're non-symmetrical then I would say just try skiing at 2cm see if you notice a difference. If they're symmetrical then definitely remount them to centre. Remounting them shouldn't cause any issues just make sure you get it done by a good dedicated ski shop. Remounting skis only really becomes and issue when you mount them more than 3 times.

Marker's toe mount is 30mm long, so go +15mm (5mm back of centre); +20mm would be borderline sketchy. Tell your shop to drill the new toe holes for optimal spacing between the old ones, that's the most important thing.
